Digital Girl - Chapter 2
A Story by Maviarab

Chapter 10 - Stormy Weather

By the time Andy arrived back home there was a storm brewing. He knew it was coming at he caught the weather forecast on the news yesterday. It looked like it had arrived. The winds were picking up and blowing bits of rubbish, twigs and paper around in swirls along the roadside. The trees around Andy’s house were blowing from side to side and just as Andy got the car into the garage the rain came, big blobs and heavy with it. By the time he had closed the garage door and got inside the ground was already wet. ‘Timed that right’ he thought to himself as he locked the door behind him. The usual routine of coming home kicked in and he enjoyed coffee and smoking before making a fresh drink to take up with him while he worked with Suki. Although it was just past one the house was already getting dark inside and that’s when Andy noticed there were no lights on. Andy walked over to the light switch on the far wall of the kitchen which was used as a pure back up now after his parents had the new light sensitive option fitted and flicked it a couple of times. Nothing; ‘Great’ he thought to himself. He grabbed a torch from the closet and made his way down into the cellar where if he recalled correctly the main junction box for the electrics and lights was situated. Slowly he went down the old wooden stairs, flashing the torch from left to right as he went so as to be able to see better. His feet touched the dusty floor at the bottom and he placed his hand on the wall as he allowed his eyes to grow accustomed to the dim light down here. With the help of the torch he started to scour this basement room. He had never been down here before with the exception of one time when he was a child with his father. Down here, where it was quiet, dark and maybe who knows what sort of evil creatures roamed was a place that Andy feared when he was younger.

Now a grown man, he sighed and shouted out to no one in particular ‘Well then, that’s it’ and the lack of a reply from anyone or anything made him feel a whole lot better. He realised it was crazy to still be afraid, but old feelings die hard and the room did still freak him out a little. ‘Let’s just find this damn box and get the hell outta here’ he muttered to himself under his breath. ‘Aha; gotcha’ he exclaimed as the beam from the torch flashed and danced off the plastic cover of the junction box. As he walked over to the wall where the junction box was he thought to himself that maybe when summer made her annual visit he would get himself down here and have a good clear out. God only knows what he might find amongst the old boxes and dust, but that was definitely not a job for anytime soon. He got to the wall and started to unscrew the little cover that kept dust and other things off the switches. Once removed, he noticed that the lighting switch was in the down and off position. Andy wondered what had tripped it and flicked the switch back up. He wondered why no lights came on down here then remembered, almost as an afterthought that his dad had had problems down here with the wiring and never got around to looking at it. After he was gone, mum never came down here to his knowledge, so he added yet another mental note to his rapidly growing collection to get that looked at.

Satisfied that everything would work again as it should he made his way out of the gloom and back into the main part of the house. Andy could not help feeling relieved as he closed the cellar door noticing at the same time that the lights were indeed coming back on in the kitchen. ‘Bloody marvellous’ he cooed, picked up his coffee and headed for his office. At the top of the stairs Andy paused to take a swig of his dink and then opened the door to where Suki would be waiting. The room was in darkness and he wondered what the hell the problem was now. He tried the small lamp on the desk and it flickered before lighting up. ‘Hmmm well that one works’ Andy murmured before looking up at the ceiling. All he could see in the dim light of the lamp was a little glass still in the metal base and a bit of element where there should have been a light bulb. Guess that’s why the lights went out he suggested to himself, and what’s that damn smell? He looked back down at the desk and started to make out tiny fragments of glass here and there, almost crystals now after the explosion. Andy stood in the silence for a while thinking about what kind of force could literally almost vaporise a light bulb and in the end just put it down to perhaps another power surge from the oncoming storm. Happened all the time in these old houses, and it was also one of the things he loved so much about this old house; It still used light bulbs and not the new tech fibre optic fluorescent crap that he hated so much. They were in the house in key places, but he liked the old ways and found it hard to move away from them completely.

Andy sat down in his chair and pulled himself closer to the desk. Grabbed his coffee, had a sip and it was then that he noticed that there were no lights showing on the front of his laptop. His trailing along he saw the odd crystal of red and blue on the desk. ‘God damn’ he muttered as he realised that whatever had blown the bulb in the ceiling light had also taken these out at the same time. He hurriedly lifted up the screen to see if there had been any further damage to his hardware, or worse still to Suki when that smell wafted in front of his nose again, only this time he instantly recognised it. ‘Plastic?’ he thought and decided that before he would investigate further it would help if he could actually see what he was doing. He jogged down the stairs and opened the closet that adjoined the kitchen and rooted around for a bulb. Finally he came upon his parents odds and sods box and pulled it out. He opened the lid and found what he was looking for, replaced the box and swung the door closed as he hurriedly made his way back to the office.

He clambered up onto his desk, almost lost his footing then managed to regain his balance again. After a few minutes deciding how to get the old bulb out or, what was left of it he carefully gripped the metal base and eased it out of its holder. Holding that in one hand he struggled to put the new bulb in and after a couple of shaky moments it was in and Andy jumped to the floor off the desk. Once down he walked towards the door and flicked the switch on the floor. Or he tried to flick the switch but it wouldn’t move. ‘Now what’ he thought as he opened the door wide to allow the light from the landing to enter the room. The plate around the switch was all black and bubbled. The switch itself had melted and the plastic had run down onto the plate and set, thus holding it in place. Andy went to the desk drawer and pulled out a silver letter opener and returning to the switch began to try and prise it free. After five minutes Andy finally managed to loosen it enough to be able to move it and he flicked it up and the room was suddenly illuminated. He purveyed the room looking for more signs and saw that the three plug sockets in the room were also in a similar condition to the wall switch, all melted and black, the plastic having bubbled with the heat. Andy’s thought immediately returned to Suki and he raced to his laptop.

‘Suki, Suki are you there, can you hear me?’ He waited for what seemed like an eternity when she spoke.

‘Yes Andy, I can sense panic in your voice, is everything all right?’ she replied in a calm and monotonous voice.

‘Oh thank god for that.’ Andy said letting out a deep sigh of relief. ‘Listen, I have to check a few things but will be back very soon.’

‘Ok.’ came the reply, a little more cheerful in note.

Andy left the room content that Suki had not been damaged, or if she had not badly enough to affect her thoughts and speech and went to check the rest of the rooms in the house for damage from what he still presumed was some sort of super surge from the storm that now raged outside. An hour later and happy that the rest of the house was ok Andy made himself more coffee, made his way wearily up the stairs and fell into his office chair. He lit a cigarette. Drank some of his coffee and then looked at the binary face staring back at him.

‘Sorry about that Suki, there must have been some kind of problem with the power. This place is a mess. I needed to go and check the rest of the house to make sure everything was ok. Thankfully only this room seems to have been affected. Are you ok? Did you notice any anomalies, has any of your data been corrupted?’ Andy quizzed impatiently.

‘No no I appear to be fully functioning. I note from my data that there was an unusually high voltage level throughout the house last night; is there bad weather about at the moment Andy? I checked the forecast and they said you were due storms in your area.’

‘Yes there’s a one just arrived a few arrives ago. Looks like it might turn bad. Whatever it was, it’s melted the wall sockets, blown all the lights from my laptop and virtually vaporised the bulb in the ceiling light.’

‘Well there you go then Andy. My data suggests that the peak of the surge was late last night, you must have been sleeping very deeply for you not to hear anything.’ Suki stated in a strange way that Andy did not at first notice.

‘Ummm yeah I suppose so’ Said Andy thinking back to last night’s adventures. ‘I’m just glad you’re ok Suki, I can replace trivial things but can’t replace you so easily can I? Least the computer damage is superficial. It could have been a lot worse.’

‘Yes it could. Funny how it only affected certain things and only in this room though don’t you think?’ but before he could think about this question she had already started on her next. ‘Anyway, how was your afternoon, come evening with your friend? Did you have lots to talk about it after all this time?’

‘Groovy’ thought Andy to himself. He should have just told the truth in the first place and suffered the consequences. Now he had lied to her it looked like he was going to have to carry on this lie for a while until he figured something out. ‘Umm yeah it was good thanks Sook. We are going to meet up again soon probably. Quite handy actually as he might be able to help us with making you more; how shall I say? Interactive.’

‘Oh that sounds interesting’ replied Suki. ‘So come on tell me all the details. Where did you go, what did you talk about etc etc.’

Andy didn’t like the quick fire questioning but tried not to let Suki know it. ‘Whoa there cowgirl; steady down’ he chuckled ‘One at a time please.’

‘Ohhh I’m sorry Andy babe just excited to speak to you again and just interested in your life now that I have to be in here and not actually with you. I long to hold you again and actually see you. Instead all I have are these invisible walls and your voice.’

‘I know Sook, but I may be able to change that sooner rather than later for you. But that will be a suprise and something that I also can’t guarantee at the moment so for now try to accept the current situation. Oh and as you asked, ended up at some American themed diner near the city. We had a good time, great food.’

‘I will try babe and I’m glad you had a good time with your friend. You must introduce us at some point. I love you but it gets lonely here with no one to talk to you when you’re away or busy.’

The thought of introducing Nat to Suki made Andy laugh manically in his head to himself. He could see it now, Suki would probably self terminate her circuits, Nat would probably have him arrested and would spend the rest of his life in some dingy jail living off bread and water. He chuckled out loud at this thought for a moment realising how silly it all was.

‘What’s so funny babe?’ Suki enquired making him jump.

‘Sorry, something dad once said popped into my head for some reason. I need to go and eat, will pop back in on you later.’

‘Ok Andy, I shall carry on with what I was doing then.’

Andy left Suki to her own devices and visited the bathroom. Once done he double checked the sockets upstairs in the house to satisfy himself once more that everything was ok and went to make his dinner. Once done he went into the main living room and sat on the leather chesterfield his mother had so prized before she became too ill to care about material things. He leant back into the leather and got himself nice and comfy, grabbed the TV remote and began to flick through the channels in the hope of finding something of interest to watch while he ate. He came across some motor racing and decided to leave that on while he finished his dinner. He put plate onto the small coffee table that was near the sofa and felt the familiar vibration of his phone receiving a text message. He shoved his hand into his pocket and pulled it out. He looked at his phone, he had two messages. He flipped up the screen and pressed the required buttons to see who they were from and also what they wanted. They were both from Nat, the first saying that she had enjoyed her time with him and looked forward to seeing him again soon. The second said ‘miss you’ with three kisses after it. Andy smiled and sent a message back to her of similar content to the ones she sent him.

He cleared up his things and took them into the kitchen, washed them and got himself something stiffer to drink than coffee. Once he had his drink he sat back down at the kitchen table and lit himself a cigarette and daydreamed while he smoked it about Nat. He could still see her sitting opposite him, the fresh skin, the unkempt hair, the cheeky laugh. He smiled again to himself and wondered what Nat was doing right at this moment, was she thinking of him? Was she doing girly things? Maybe out with her friends? Maybe lying in bed pleas...’Stop it Andy boy’ he said out loud. ‘Damn that girls had an effect on you, you’re acting like a fifteen year old, pull yourself together’ said Andy’s inner voice of reason. The voice of reason was right, and he knew it was right but all the same he couldn’t help but keep thinking of this woman who had turned his life upside down in a matter of days. He was just glad he had not been stupid enough to tell her he thought he was falling in love with her. That kind of shit tends to have a negative effect on people so early into a relationship. Andy looked at his empty glass and the ashtray in front of him. ‘Well, spose best go do some work’. He stood up then stopped. ‘Jesus, I’m talking to glasses and ashtrays now’ he chortled and then he got himself another drink, picked up the pack of cigarettes from the table and went to see Suki.

As Andy walked up the stairs he could hear the wind and rain battering the windows to the house. It howled around the yard and made eerie noises which made the hairs on Andy’s neck dance. Outside the storm was now in full force, fences were being blown away, shop signs in the town were swinging wildly, creaking as they went one and then the other. To anyone crazy enough to be out, they would have seen the wind blowing the heavy rain along the road. If Andy had seen it, it would probably have reminded him of the rain in the old black and white Japanese samurai films, where the good guys are doing battle against the bad guys. Andy sat in his chair just as a loud cackle of thunder roared above him high in the sky and was quickly followed by two forks of bright lightening. Andy looked up towards the window and was glad that he was inside. He had not seen a storm like this for many years, especially for England. They were common place in America, but here, it took something special to get a night like this. As the rain battered the window heavier and harder Andy decided to put some music on to try and hide the sound of the storm outside. He asked Suki to check the local weather reports to find out how bad it might get or if this was the worst of it and they spent the next few hours chatting about everything from his old work and what his favourite films were. They then played twenty questions before finishing with a short session of truth or dare, which of course Andy did not fare very well in, due in most part to the fact that he could not really dare a program on his pc. They laughed about the times they did silly things together and overall after he had left her for the night and gone to his bedroom he thought he had made real progress in the programming, and also that Suki had made real strides herself in her outlook and memories.

After Andy had undressed and settled into his bed under the warm duvet he listened to the rain and wind for a while, unable to sleep. The storm almost sang around the house as rain dripped and fell and the wind whistled. Andy got up and opened the window slightly to be able to hear it better. All his life the sound of rain falling had made him sleep well; he always thought it was relaxing. He crawled back into bed and the smell of Nat filled his nostrils. ‘Must remember to wash these in the morning’ and he settled down all snug, cosy and warm. While he was waiting for sleep to take him, his phone vibrated again and he read the new message. ‘You still up and if so may I ring?’ It was from Nat, but he somehow knew that before he even looked. He sent back ‘sure no problem’ and buried his face into the pillow to try to get more comfortable. A few minutes later and he was surprised to hear the house phone ringing rather than his mobile. He leaned over out of the bed and grabbed off the bedside table.

‘Hello’ he said in a tired and sleepy voice.

‘Oh I’ve not disturbed you have I? You sound tired?’

‘No is ok Nat, had only just gotten into bed when your text came. Everything ok over there? Helluva storm eh?’

‘Yeah its horrible, had to go out in it earlier to get mums cat in the silly thing. Think we lost a couple of fence panels too. No idea what state the garden will be in, in the morning.’

‘Had a few problems here myself but all sorted now. Anyway, to what do I owe the pleasure sweetheart?’ Andy asked.

‘Well I couldn’t sleep with all the noise of the storm, then I got to thinking about you, and last night; and this morning, and well; guess what I’m doing right now...’ Nat giggled.

‘I have no idea Nat, but I bet its something mischievous or devilish knowing you.’ Andy giggled back.

‘Hmmm maybe, shall I tell you?’ the coyness was back in her voice and Andy could mentally see her biting her lip with that wicked look in her eye.

‘Well I guess you better had as I assume that’s the reason you rang no?’

‘Ok then, are you comfortable at the moment?’

‘Yeah I’m lying in bed at the moment Nat, why what are you up to?’ he quizzed.

Natalia didn’t reply to him but he could hear her faint breathing on the other end of the line so he was sure she had heard him. He played along and guessed that she was ignoring him for whatever little game or plan she had up her sleeve. Natalia’s breath was replaced with another sound; one Andy could not quite put his finger on. He listened intently to the faint noise trying to work out what it might be. He heard a soft moan over the other noise and his groin twitched with approval. Nat was starting to moan more frequently now and he concentrated on the other rhythmic noise. He heard Nat moan his name and he instantly realised what she was doing.

‘Can you hear me Andy, can you hear my wetness. I wanted you so badly ‘She whispered down the phone. ‘I need you Andy; I need you to fuck me so badly, ohhh yes.’ Andy could hear her starting to pant now and tried to mentally imagine her lying there on the bed, the phone cradled under her chin as she slowly slid what he imagined to be a glass dildo slowly in and out of her dripping warmth, her muscles tightening around it, fighting to keep it deep inside of her and her hips writhing in pleasure. Instinctively Andy started to stroke himself, the whimpers and cries of Nat’s voice coming through the phone sending blood surging towards his groin. Natalia must have placed the phone onto the bed near her hips as he moans faded a little but the sound of her toying increased audibly. Andy felt light headed and speeded up his own movements to try matching that of hers. A minute later and the sounds swapped places once again, as the sound of her wetness was replaced with her soft cries. ‘Ohhh god Andy, you make me so hot babe, I love it when you fuck me slowly.’ Her moans and whimpers were now becoming constant; he could hear her struggling for breath, all the while keeping that picture of her in his mind. Andy was not sure what turned him on more, her panting or the image, but together they were having an effect on him. This is obviously what Nat wanted and it was almost a relief when Nat cried out that she was cumming. Andy by now was furiously jerking himself and as the cries of pleasure came down the phone Andy grunted and exploded over his hand. Waves of pleasure were overpowering Nat as she continued to moan on the other end of the line. Once she had calmed down, still a little out of breath she spoke.

‘I hope you got as much pleasure out of that as I did handsome?’

‘That was amazing’ Andy stammered ‘and yes I did.’

Nat giggled over the phone ‘So you’re all sticky now then are you. You bad boy.’

‘Hell girl it was difficult not to be after hearing that show.’

‘Glad you liked it, next time, I might let you watch. Night night.’ And with that she blew him a kiss and hung up. Andy was almost sweating and had become very sleepy. He hurried to the bathroom to clean himself up grinning all the while, returned to the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
