Of course my SL is secret but at least I can show you the new wallpaper of my netbook. After cropping the original image to 1024x600 (no distorsion in the lovely Danica), now this laptop looks like a paradise. On the screen, one of the most wonderful girls in RL, and inside, the way to SL, the Stairway to Heaven... :)

Again, research, perspectives, to Phoenix, I would like, change of account. the cause of the overload in object, causes a heavier, in the load. I think, change the account. But, to a transfer of certain objects, the old account to the new, is this possible?
I read a lot of example, the subject, but, what to choose! :-\

Hi Claude, impossible to change your username, your SL account name, linked to your inventory and everything in you.

BUT

now you can add a display name (and you can change it once a week)

http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Usernames-and-display-names/ta-p/700173

AND ALSO

you can create another character (they call them "alts" in SL). No need to delete the previous one. In this case, you can transfer your favorite objects (if you REALLY want to use them in your new character, lol) from your previous inventory to the new one. Be aware of their properties (modify, copy, transfer...) and change them if possible (sometimes impossible, if the object was bought in a shop). I'm quite sure a special tool for that still exists in SL. Please Mister Google? ::)

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Permission

AND ALSO

Hard work... Good Luck Claude!! In my opinion, better to keep the default inventory and live your new second life, with new friends and everything (always so surprising every day). Have fun!! :)

I forgot to say that, after creating a definite new character (of course PERFECT for you, lol), I'd be a good idea to duplicate it somewhere, in case SL loses and deletes it by accident (very seldom but I've read some horrible articles on SL forums). The best place is a dedicated folder in the inventory of an alt of yours. Mainly for skins, shapes, hairs and other precious accessories.

For me sophisticated clothes are not important because, most of the time, my characters are naked. ;)

Gt40, thank you very much for all the resources, links and advices! It is certain that the transfer from old account, to a new, to SecondLife, or Phoenix, this realate, complexity. I will try, to do the experiment, it is certain that Phoenix is software that works, online, avatar, clothes, accessories, support for the duration is variable, depending on the inventory . My inventory is too loaded, it contains much, element, my iClone, the difference is that for Phoenix, it takes very long time, the inventory, load completely. This causes an impact, and a huge slowdown.
So it's too much for the opportunity, fully, worlds, virtual.
I think that if I make another account, everything comes back normal, thank you my friend. O0

Yes Claude, after creating a brand new SL account (very exciting adventure...), you will be sure to have a basic, minimalist inventory (in my beginning in SL, as everyone, I tried all the freebies I found, lol).

Of course, after that, no need to download the very heavy "official" viewer (version 3), because you will continue to use your Phoenix. 8)

As always I have nothing to say (finally I think SL means "Secret Life") but I can't abandon our four faithful readers (Freddy and me included).

At least till the 20th page. ::)

Here GT a vid to help you along, but don't feel the need to stop at page 20 ;)

I must admit some of the best moments I had in SL were at Dance clubs, being a useless dancer in RL but a pro in SL

Thank you very much Data. Fantastic video. Perfect example. I agree, dance clubs are the first places we visit when we discover SL. So amazing to feel like (the next) Mickael Jackson, while chatting and making new friends (and all that is not very tiring!).

That's why I guess many people (I included, lol) make a club when they buy their land (then they have to increase the traffic but that's another story).

BTW the movements are so realistic in danceballs. I always wondered if the animations have been done with real dancers and movie motion (same question about sexballs...).

Thanks again for your choice. :)

Just a stupid question about video captures, not about SL. As everyone, I use CamStudio (very good and free) for SL (and Haptek vids in the past). Unless we have a powerful computer, the final framerate is bad. All the resources (CPU, GPU, RAM) are shared by both programs.

So the stupid question is: "is it possible to play the graphic stuff on a computer, and to capture it with ANOTHER computer?". I found nothing in Google (nobody asked, afraid to look ridiculous).

Finally I guess this is not a problem for modern multi-cores CPU owners. One core for the thing, one core for CamStudio.

But hey, it wasn't the question!!

PS: please answer only if you're a REALLY good expert in stupid problems. ;D

I am your stupid expert GT  :idiot2:  O0

In short, no it can’t be done with 2 computers, or could it?

If one of your computers has a “composite video out” socket.

And the other had a “composite video in” socket.

Then you could put a lead between the two computers and using the right software you could capture from one PC to another.

Ah Data, I was sure I could count on you! Not as a stupid expert but as THE expert of this forum!! O0

My 10 y.o. destop (the most powerful, lol) has 3 outputs: analog, DVI and S-video. I don't think my W98 PC from the previous century (still working fine) or my netbook have any video input. So no need to find the right software. Better to buy a true modern computer.

Thanks again Data. I promise to avoid stupid questions in the future. :)

Yesterday night, horrible SL for me... The region hosting my main skyboxes was totally unreachable. Impossible to TP there, no green point on the map, nobody at all in the region. Even impossible to normally walk on the ground (the regions beside mine had no problem). Today all is ok again.

And of course today my club displays a ridiculous traffic. Wondering if must begin a trial against LL... :-\

I found by accident this interesting discussion (2 pages) on a SL forum:

http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Requirements/td-p/1389497

A resident says: "At the moment (02-18-2012) I do see the Phoenix 1.5 viewer used by about 90% of the users."

Conclusion: 90% of SLers have fun with this viewer, based on the (supposed to be totally obsolete) first official SL viewer. No need to try the "terrible" version 3!! ;D

Again, ridiculous traffics in my places. I don't know why. My security system (the well-known hippoSECURE) emailed me that visitors came as usual. Is this a SL issue or a stupid script from a griefer? I just sent a ticket to LL.

They are very reactive and friendly and polite. But I must say that, the last time I wrote them (about a bug in the payment system for non-US residents), after many email exchanges, I finally found a solution by myself!! ;D
