Using a forum to store a robot brain.
« on: August 18, 2015, 07:22:53 am »
My latest experiment: Using a forum to store a robot brain.

This A.I. experiment is a proof of concept.  Regardless of what new features and updates are still being added to this alpha A.I. project which is brand new... By toggling the round red button on the top, left, you can discover for yourself this proof of concept in action. This proves it is possible to store a robot brain in a forum that members of the community can update.

My goal is for forum members to help build a robot brain using basic forum skills they already have.  Basically, it works like this... The first post is read by the A.I. to match on the user input.  Then reply posts are used by the A.I. to pick a response.  So, if someone is unsatisfied with a response, they can simply login to the forum and post to the robot brain for next time.  Forum members can teach the A.I. using simple plain text forum activity.

I am working on a short tutorial to hopefully make this easy to understand...

TUTORIAL: Post a new topic to teach the A.I. what to lookup.
Then post a reply to teach the A.I. its choice of responses to give.

Presently, the robot brain only has a few topics, so please register and post a new topic followed by a few reply posts to help make the robot brain more intelligent.  If you happen to be a newbie to A.I. then here is your chance to actually build a real robot brain using basic forum skills you already have. For your convenience, I temporarily turned off forum activation, so when you register you'll have immediate access. No hassle checking your email for an activation link.  You're activated instantly and you can teach the robot brain new topics right away! However, to help manage spambot activity on a wide open forum, I also temporarily activated a custom forumbot mode to block links, images, videos and some common curse words from being saved to the forum.  Please ignore any spam that gets past the forumbot. I will try to delete any forum spam as soon as possible.  After a short introductory period, the forumbot is scheduled for deactivation, and forum activation will be reactivated instead.

Sorry about starting out with such a basic search algorithm. It's lots of stuff besides writing a new A.I. engine, like creating a forum, writing a forumbot (like Tyler), configuring a domain name and more setting up a new website.

However, finally got around to optimizing the A.I. today... The search algorithm has been optimized.  Now, it should work the way it's supposed to and make alpha testing go alot smoother.

If you have a few minutes please head on over and start a few new topics
like for example...

I say this every time -  these word smith programs work better if you make synonimic interchangability between the words.   gives it more options with less.

Then you actually might get more than 1 phrase attention span,  which is one of the biggest obviousnesses to your ai's weakness.

No doubt  ::) about it... Significant progress has been based on the feedback by Jester
More people get involved, faster this artificial intelligence child will stabilize.

You're totally welcome... Who knew? Proceeds from Alter Vista are optional, but why not put them to good use supporting the future of artificial intelligence.  Thanks for featuring chatbot.tk in your community!

Indeed, it is, less than a week old, weak... But, growing stronger with your useful feedback and support. You found a logical programming error!  Sorry Ranch, this caused interference with the synonymic interchangeability (which is unformalized and hard to read at this point).  So, more on that topic later.

Thanks for naming the robot, Sherry!

HINT: You may check your "Sherry" thread to see the unformalized synonymic interchangeability implementation.

Swap man with guy,  then your call reply assignment happens more often involving the words, or rather now, the class.

Oh, I know!  Overall, chatbots (word smith programs) do give the impression they work better in simulation using canned responses.  Maybe one day that impression will change.

Nonetheless, I have always respected chatbot designs which analyze word by word.  It may seem to take longer to produce (less) results, but this technique still arouses my curiosity.

My theory is that displaying its vocabulary helps show the user what limitations to expect.  And, otherwise revealing its internal workings may prompt the user to want to know more. I just started my new word by word investigation: Here!

Just renewed domain: chatbot.TK today.  Renewal for 12 months was easy to do, and best of all: FREE.  I honestly don't believe there is any catch.  At least, not that I've been able to see over the past two years.

Some things are free in life, I suppose.  Sometimes, I guess, it is not too good to be true.  But, renewal does have to be done within 14 days of the expiration date, or you may lose it.

No complaints, but I accidentally lost domain: chatbots.TK (with an "s") by not paying attention.  I was late reading my email, and the expiration date had already passed the 14 day window for renewal.  And, when I went to renew it late, someone else had already grabbed it.

Imagrite turned out to be a spammer so they have been removed.

Imagrite may have been a probe, to test for vulnerabilities.

At chatbot.tk forum, it is literally wide open, with no activation.

But, I wrote a ferocious forumbot to pounce on any spambots.

So far, zero spam.

Hi
How come you didn't go up the wiki way? Wiki looks like an interesting way of sharing information... Is it because forums have a more elaborated structure?

Zero.

The chatbot.tk knowledgebase is just getting started.
So, to be honest, currently it is too small to fill a wiki.

Another benefit is reduced learning curve.  A forum is
usually more familiar than a wiki to the average user.

For example, taking courses online generally uses a
forum.  Wikis are used as well, but to a lesser extent.
