Hey forum,
Im very interested in learning on making my own chat bot to be used in AIM as well as Second Life.
At the moment, I have a bot hosted on Pandora's Bots, which is basically a starting bot and I added a few patterns/answers to it.

Excuse my ignorance, but I would like to know how does the separate files work? Suppose I would like to host this on my own site/server/whatever down the line, is there a tutorial showing how all these AIML files interact? In a related question, I downloaded a sample bot from A.L.I.C.E.'s main page, can this be invoked through a web browser only? This in a way is relating to my first question on how these AIML files "compile" or whatever the terminology is...

I hope Im using the right words, as Im not too keen on how XML/AIML works. I have a fair background in C/Java so maybe relating to that could help? If any pure beginner tutorials exists (I cant seem to find them on Alice or Pandora bots) that I missed, please let me know.

I only know a little about AIML really as I never had the time to get right into it, so I can't really answer your questions.

We do have a member here named Bruce Wilcox who does know a great deal about AIML, but I havent seen him for a while.  I suggest that if you do not get an answer here  then instead you try over on AI Nexus :

That's the home of some expert AIML people and always a great place to go for AMIL in general.
