Or go to Pandorabots and create an online bot-no downloads required. This has some specific advantages. Pandorabots has the best AIML editor/training interface currently available, so it's the ideal place to learn AIML. Any AIML files you generate can be downloaded and transferred to a desktop application whenever you want. Pandorabots uses a couple of tags not available in other ALICE implementations, but in the great majority of instances it's compatible with the currently available ALICE interpreters for desktop use. I'd suggest choosing to create a bot using the Annotated Alice AIML (AAA) set, as it is the current AIML standard.
