Title: Siraj Raval mentions Mitsuku, and more
Post by: 8pla.net on May 09, 2020, 07:38:07 pm
Siraj Raval mentions Mitsuku, and A.L.I.C.E. AIML  (2:45) as "Retrieval Based".

Is that true, what do you think?   Wonder what that makes, ChatScript?

Honestly, after what he has done, the last thing I would want to do would be to give the cretin even more exposure, no matter who or which program, app, or chatbot might be mentioned. Then again, perhaps that's just me.

No, it's not for educational purposes either! There is nothing to be gained by watching this sorry human thriving from the hard work of others!

One could always ask Bruce Wilcox, "What kind of chatbot is Chatscript?"

I would think you've been around long enough to know the answers to your own questions when they are in the average Beginner's guide to chatbots (https://blog.datasciencedojo.com/introduction-to-chatbots/).

I've seen the video long ago, he explains it poorly. I won't re-watch it because every view on Youtube further lines his pockets. You're better off finding the paper or blog that he nicked the content from, it explains it more accurately. Case in point: The fact that you had to ask.

That controversy is the topic of another thread.

Please, let's get back on topic...

Wow! Is it so that, Rollo's is really turning 40 ?

Don's reference: A Beginner’s Guide to Chatbots

may debunk the video's claim that Mitsuku is retrieval based.

Quote
A.L.I.C.E. was the most capable rule based chatbot developed at its time.

unless, this is perhaps where A.L.I.C.E. and Mitsuku diverge?

Or, perhaps AIML has recently evolved from rule based to retrieval based?

Why is Bruce's not recorded in the history of chatbots?

It's a simple matter of looking up the definitions. Here are more references:

https://medium.com/@BhashkarKunal/conversational-ai-chatbot-using-deep-learning-how-bi-directional-lstm-machine-reading-38dc5cf5a5a3

All descriptions of "retrieval-based" describe training a program on a long list of responses and using a data metric of some sort, like term frequency, to retrieve them. AIML and Chatscript are not trained, but have manually composed rules that specify which response to return for which input. The only other thing I can say is that AI jargon typically does a poor job of describing what it means.

Mitsuku uses AIML 1.0, just like ALICE. AIML 2.0 has additional support functions in the area of parsing, but has not changed from being rule-based.

ATTENTION Artificial Intelligence Researchers:

In case you missed it, AIML ruled based chatbots, fooled a human A.I. guru on video.  Apparently,  ruled based chatbots tricked Siraj Raval!  He thought rules based AIML was the next generation retrieval based.   In all fairness, that is to be expected from Artificial Intelligence Markup Language (AIML) which, Mitsuku (5 times) and ALICE (3 times)  combined, won the Loebner Prize 8 times.

Either that or Siraj Raval is a fraud who doesn't do his homework well enough to know what he's talking about.

I think there is a space in a world for people talented like Siraj Raval. I don't want to get into details of some decisions he made for his benefit, but it definitely takes a talent to bring scientific materia into interest focus of wide range of people who didn't care, or didn't dare to care about the science overall, due to regularly complicated approach. As for me, I wouldn't mind if each everyday tv news program had a short report on things Raval is usually talking about, in the exact form he envisioned. Too bad he did something to be publicly lynched for.

I would much rather turn my attention/focus on someone who is actually learned in a discipline or course of study instead of someone who makes and has made a living preying off the gullibility of others to line his own pockets for many years. He is a charlatan, a hyper-geared snake-oil salesman of the 21st century.

I wish people would simply let his name sink back into the gutter of disappointment where it belongs.

Mitsuku didn't fool him. He just didn't bother to contact me or research how  the bot worked before making his video. ::)
Although Mitsuku does use a database of objects as he said, this forms only a very small part of it to create responses to many common sense question without me having to hard code the answers.

Mitsuku is great, but failed to answer me some basic maths all the times  :D
