SquareBear's AIML files
« on: February 25, 2008, 05:30:01 pm »
I found today that SquareBear (who's usual haunt is AI Nexus) has a new page full of his innovative AIML files.  Take a look, there's plenty of ways to make your bot better and different here:

Thanks Freddy. SquareBear is the King of AIML and Pandorabots.

And thanks to him.  8) 8) 8)

I recently put a Pandorabot over on Datahopa.co.uk, she is called Legion and I have been having some fun with the teaching, all that playing around with Hal in the past has paid off a little and helped me.

I did a google for some aiml files and found your site Squarebear, I probably should have just asked you as you are the man, it seems  ;) , wouldn’t have had to search then  :)

Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your work with the likes of me  O0  :).

My pleasure. The way I learned AIML was by looking at other files, so I felt it only fair to share some of my work with others.
Naturally, I don't have all of Mitsuku's secrets there though  ;)

Oh no. I didn’t expect to get all your secrets.

But I thought, if I get to know you better, lull you into a false sense of security then over time you will weaken and give away all your fancy files to me.  :D

Yes some nice things there.

I keep meaning to ask Steve, you know the learning aiml - does that create a new aiml file to store the new responses ?

I was also thinking about that. The process used in the UltraHal bot creates an individual table entry for each newly learned or discussed topic so I thought an AIML one might work in a similar fashion. It would be very difficult to categorize and access as needed if not done in the aforementioned manner.

Just curious...thanks!!

Squarebear please forgive my little joke above, I have no intension really of even trying to get you clever and fancy AIML files.

Would still like to know a little about the learning AIML process if at all possible, as Freddy and Art said.

The main question being, does it learn by saving tables and will the tables still be there the next time you chat to the bot?

Many thanks  :)

haha! I know you were joking Data.  :)

The way the learn function works depends on whether you are using the free Pandorabots server or the paid one.

The free server stores a temporary category with the information that the bot has been taught. This is only available to the user who created the fact and is cleared out by the server about once an hour. You cannot see these temporary categories to see what has been added.

The paid server permanently store the categories in a file called learn.aiml. This file should be checked to make sure it isn't full of rubbish before you republish or ALL your bot's users will get these changes.

You wouldn't automatically want all users to see the things that have been taught, as the vast majority is rubbish like, "Tony is gay", "Learn that you smell" and other such pearls of wisdom.

Ahh right, that makes sense, I noticed I can teach things to Legion and she is remembering them but when I leave and go back she has forgotten.

There is no way I can afford the kind of money they are asking for the paid account so for now she will just have to forget things.

Hopefully program O will give me the kind of service I’m after at a price I can afford.

Thanks for the reply squarebear  O0

I believe you only get one bot for $75 a month, so I guess you could club together but you would have to work on the same bot.

And you can also spring for the $1500.00 level (results are naturally guaranteed).
While I'm sure there are those who will benefit from such a cloud connected usage,
the majority of people most likely will not have such disposable income. :-\
