Problem setting up AI forum
« on: July 26, 2005, 12:16:10 am »
for a few days now I've been trying to set up the ai_forum module which is based on alice and is a module built for phpbb.  I orginally got this module

here

I then downloaded here standerd amil files over at sourceforge.net which I then followed the instructions and installed said module.  The problem is that after everyting that I have done, she is not responding.  It could be any number of things.  From my database to php to alice's amil files timing out.  I tried every possible solution I could think of by following the posts I found on google and on the orginal phpbb website.  Not to mention the many forums out there that are linked to the current alice prodject.  In the end I have no clue.  I am running php 5.0.4(Zend) and safe mode is off on apache 2.0.54 my website to which i am testing allice is

http://childb.csolve.net/area51/

you can use my administration account to see all that I have done in the forum and to see if anything is wrong.  The user name and password is as follows

SolarisZen
area51

you can test here chat mod here:

http://childb.csolve.net/area51/testmods/AI/mods/iai/

when you chat with her.  The words disapear and again she doesn't respond.
 :huh1:

I am really stuck on this and any help would greatly be appreciated. :nowork: :thanks:

I kept getting a jsrs error: context pool full

I looked at your script file for anything out of the ordinary.

The chatr window just keeps echoing everything I type into it until the error occurs.

<Scratching head>...

Will look a little deeper if I can.
 :huh1:

I don't know anything about PHP, so I can't be of much help, here. But I can suggest that you post about your problem at the Alicebot-general Mailing List, which is where you can find the single greatest concentration of ALICE users, thus the most likely place to find help from others using the same implementation.

Yes.  I joined the mailing list.  I'm under 'general.'  However, when I posted my problem I got back an error from a bot stating that it didn't know what I was talking about and then gave me a list of 'commands/help.'  I tried the command hoping to connect with someone about my problem to no avail.  All that happend was that my message was bounced mack to me.  :huh1:

Alicebot-General is a mailing list. If you had managed to post to the list successfully, your query would have shown up in my email box and that of everyone else on the list. Since it didn't, I'm fairly certain you didn't. If you've used the previous link to sign up for the list with your email and password, then email your questions to alicebot-general@list.alicebot.org.

When I posted to that list. This is what I got back.

This is an automated response.

There were problems with the email commands you sent to Mailman via
the administrative address
<alicebot-general-request@list.alicebot.org>.

To obtain instructions on valid Mailman email commands, send email to
<alicebot-general-request@list.alicebot.org> with the word "help" in
the subject line or in the body of the message.

If you want to reach the human being that manages this mailing list,
please send your message to
<alicebot-general-admin@list.alicebot.org>.

The following is a detailed description of the problems.

***** help
Help for alicebot-general mailing list:

This is email command help for version 2.0.13 of the "Mailman" list
manager.  The following describes commands you can send to get
information about and control your subscription to Mailman lists at
this site.  A command can be in the subject line or in the body of the
message.

Note that much of the following can also be accomplished via the World
Wide Web, at:

    http://list.alicebot.org/mailman/listinfo/alicebot-general

In particular, you can use the Web site to have your password sent to
your delivery address.

List specific commands (subscribe, who, etc) should be sent to the
*-request address for the particular list, e.g. for the 'mailman'
list, use 'mailman-request@...'.

About the descriptions - words in "<>"s signify REQUIRED items and
words in "[]" denote OPTIONAL items.  Do not include the "<>"s or
"[]"s when you use the commands.

The following commands are valid:

    subscribe [password] [digest-option] [address=<address>]
Subscribe to the mailing list.  Your password must be given to
unsubscribe or change your options.  When you subscribe to the
list, you'll be reminded of your password periodically.
'digest-option' may be either: 'nodigest' or 'digest' (no
quotes!)  If you wish to subscribe an address other than the
address you send this request from, you may specify
"address=<email address>" (no brackets around the email
        address, no quotes!)

    unsubscribe <password> [address]
Unsubscribe from the mailing list.  Your password must match
the one you gave when you subscribed.  If you are trying to
unsubscribe from a different address than the one you
subscribed from, you may specify it in the 'address' field.

    help
        This message.

    set <option> <on|off> <password>
Turn on or off list options.  Valid options are:

        ack:
Turn this on to receive acknowledgement mail when you send
            mail to the list.

        digest:
Receive mail from the list bundled together instead of one
            post at a time.

        plain:
Get plain-text, not MIME-compliant, digests (only if
            digest is set)

        nomail:
Stop delivering mail.  Useful if you plan on taking a
            short vacation.

        norcv:
Turn this on to NOT receive posts you send to the list.
Does not work if digest is set.

        hide:
Conceals your address when people look at who is on this
            list.

    options
Show the current values of your list options.

    password <oldpassword> <newpassword>
        Change your list password.

    end or --
Stop processing commands (good to do if your mailer
automatically adds a signature file - it'll save you from a lot
       of cruft).

Yes, you are trying to access the administrative section of the Alicebot mailing list without authorization. You are administrator of your forum. You are not an administrator at Alicebot-general.
There's just not a simpler way to put this: send your questions in an email to alicebot-general@list.alicebot.org.
If you can send an email to the above address successfully, your question will go to the mailboxes of hundreds of ALICE users, some of whom are using that same PHP forum bot, and will try to help you with your problem.
