Did anyone see "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy"?

I only mention this movie for 3 reason's:

1st. It has a humanoid type robot (sorry, "android") named Marvin who possesses a humanesque personality that is so manicly depressed, that it makes it funny. Got to love the robot.

2nd. The ship named "The Heart of Gold" possesses it's own AI (Eddy) which is sooo cheerful it almost makes you sick. And...

3rd. The special effects aren't too shabby. The alien (non-human) Vogon's are hysterical in their parody of victorian era politicians.

I really think the AI's should have been played off of and their characters developed a bit more.
The sad part about the film, is that the story-line seemed a bit disjointed. Anyone that hasn't read the book would find it almost incomprehensible unless it is seen as just fun & cheeky sci-fi/comedy.

But as someone who enjoyed reading "The Guide", I found it quite amusing.

Anybody have any other views?

I loved it... can't remember when I laughed so hard.? I even thought it was better than the TV series.

When asked, what is your favorite movie, one of my ChatBots replies, "My favorite movie is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Have you seen it?"? If the user replies, "no," then the bot says, "I would recommend you check it out. CLICK HERE!" and provides a link to the movie web site.? There's a lot to do there.

I like anything written by the late, great Douglas Adams, and I was a firm addict to the show when it was released here in the uk, my god it was a while ago now.  I've yet to see the film but seems good.

1)  Marvin is a lot like some chatbots i have seen lol.

2) I remember the ship's AI, it would be ultra-polite on opening doors for you.  Did you ever see the AI Toaster in Red Dwarf?

Haven't seen Red Dwarf. Keep trying to catch it on internet TV, but the darn server is always busy for
the channel that shows it. Got a collection of the original Dr.Who series, about 8 season's worth. But
I digress from what I wished to add here. I have built a little .htr file with a couple of sound bites from
The Guide. The voice of Marvin to be precise, lip-synched to a head of my own design. It's just a bit
amusing. Here it is, so enjoy. The zip folder has the actual soundbit in wav. format, but the htr file will
open with the character speaking the same thing in Marvins voice.
