Ex Machina Official Trailer #1 (2015)

This one looks like quite the techno-thriller. Another for me to definitely watch.

No spoilers here...

Good writing is most important, I think.  Though special effects are essential. This movie, in my opinion, was well written with intellectual as well as other levels of stimulation.

The visual appeal was extraordinary in this movie.  Sometimes when visual effects are highly realistic, they may not be captured properly in the trailer, due to the low resolution of web video, But, in the movie theater, they are overwhelmingly persuasive.

There are several A.I. movies coming out which is fantastic! This is definitely a good one to see.  I am very pleased to have watched Ex Machina in the movie theater.

our generation of movie directors are fruit cakes.  2001 a space oddysey was so much better,  now its all about putting a glory hole in your computer.

"no 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information"

details.

But I think if I was 34 back then I wouldve avoided watching it to tell you the truth,  because ive got something against watching neanderthals, theres always some reason why the movie causes enough pain to nullify the joy, like everything in life, and itself.

Largely because most men wish to identify with something other a glowing red light with which to have an engaging conversation!

Surprisingly, some of us are also interested in the mind of the A.I. and not just what's carrying it around. However, as mentioned, anything better than a red light is appreciated. (which has no bearing at all on any so called red light district.)

I saw the original movie which was released in 1968 and it was a more innocent time with regard to computers, A.I., space travel, etc. There were no home computers, no chat bots and little to no robots anywhere. No cell phones, no roombas,  no Internet as we know it, no wireless anything to speak of. So yes, the glowing red light indicated a superior intelligence was in control and we had no idea of what it was of doing. Star Trek had just started 2 years earlier and that was pretty much the best we had at the time. As yes...time...time to go... O0

Update!

I now own a copy of Ex Machina for my collection and the movie was very engaging / entertaining.

Personally, the character Ava, was beautifully done. Even her voice was soft and carried a curious tone as if of an android attempting to learn from a human.

While I certainly didn't mind seeing some more provocative scenes, I think they and the language could have been left out except to otherwise obtain the "R" movie rating. And no, the R does not stand for Robot... ;)

Acting was great, scenery was super and the overall plot was simple yet devious.

The ending however, took a somewhat unexpected turn down the hallway.

Personally, I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5  O0
