Looking at those pictures of the monolith, I just figured out the meaning of it all - a single tall black tower, which would become millions of tall black towers.? Arthur C. Clarke had successfully predicted the arrival of the Playstation 2.

I guess I'm the last one here who still uses W98. When my dear old PC starts, I can see HAL(who sees me), instead of the Windows logo.

You remember that tip of the last century (and the two other ones, when you stopped your computer)?

You renamed an image like the attached hal.bmp (320x400) into logo.sys and put it in the root of C:

Just a little touch of nostalgia (for me, it's today, lol).

BTW in the French version of the film, HAL is named CARL!  ;D

Does that little trick work for XP ?  I had never heard of it before.  Actually I think your image is pretty good GT40.  I do remember seeing that HAL is CARL in france...which makes me wonder where Carl2 has got to - I haven't seen him lately.

No it doesnt work for XP dude, there is a way to change the splash screen in place of the Xp one, but its damn complicated...
