AI Olympics is now in full swing!

Crafting Quest 3 (CQ3) was recently launched for all students keen on artificial intelligence, offering them the opportunity to develop their engineering skills.

CQ3 is a software competition consisting of a series of turn-based strategy games in which players win points by gathering resources, crafting artifacts and destroying enemy units. The player who earns the most points wins the game.

Why compete for CQ3?
  • test your engineering skills
  • prove your strategic thinking
  • innovate and come up with competitive solutions for exciting problems
  • fight your opponents and have fun
  • win up to 1500 Euro
  • be spotted by world renowned companies

Team up with your mates, register by February 1 and submit your solution before the Qualification Round (February 16)! You can evaluate your solution against other solutions submitted for the first testing round, which takes place on January 19. The testing rounds are optional.

All details and competition rules can be found here: http://www.aiolympics.ro/ai-olympics/crafting-quest-3/

AI Olympics is part of AI-MAS Winter Olympics (AIWO). AIWO is an international event which brings together AI professionals and enthusiasts from both academia and industry, offering a framework to share visions and results of Artificial Intelligence research. AIWO will take place on February 23, 2013 in Bucharest and comprises 3 sections:
  • AI Olympics - the contest for AI enthusiasts with 3000 euro total prizes;
  • AI Talks - presentations and debates lead by specialists working in AI field;
  • AI Village - exhibition of exciting AI solutions, brought forward by research projects, such as autonomous robots, gadgets and demos of innovative technologies.

More details on www.aiolympics.ro.

See you there,
AIWO Team

Gee...another AI contest...and another 1500 dollar / euro prize...hmmm....sounds so familiar.

Could this one from Romania possibly be legitimate?

Anyone hear the results from the last alleged Chatbot Contest? Nope...me neither. <skeptical exhale>

Hello Bragi.

"Any person keen on Artificial Intelligence is eligible to participate in the competition as long as he/she is either an undergraduate student or a graduate student (Master, PhD)."
http://www.aiolympics.ro/ai-olympics/competition-rules/

However, the event is open to anyone interested in the domain. You can still visit the AI Village and participate to the AI Talks.

Hello Art. The event is legitimate and it's already our 3rd edition (2nd international edition). You can see pictures from our previous editions and previous winners both on our website (www.aiolympics.ro/about/history/) and on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/aiolympics).
This year AIWO is organized under the aegis of ARIA (the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence www.aria-romania.org/en/), the Romanian member of ECCAI (the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence www.eccai.org).

Furthermore, this year we are sponsored by companies such as Google, Facebook and Adobe, which are all returning to our event for the 2nd or even 3rd time.

We hope we have convinced you that we are genuine. If you have any other questions you can address them on our Facebook page, over email at contact [at] aiolympics.ro or you can reply to this thread.

We look forward to seeing you all in Bucharest!

Hi Mihaela,

Thanks for posting about your event and for taking steps to prove it is authentic, I hope it helps you to get the word about.

I cannot get all the way to Romania, nor am I eligible to enter as it has been over 20 years since I was a student !

I wish you great success though :)

Mihaela,

Thank you for taking the time to "step forward" in an effort to help "authenticate" your site / contest / event.

We seem to have been falsely led toward participation in other Chatbot / AI events promising fair sums of money
only to find out that it was some sort of ruse or simply never came to fruition.

I apologize if I was initially skeptical of your announcement and I'd like to wish you and your contest all the best!
