With every genuine advance in the field of ‘artificial intelligence,’ we see a parallel increase in hype, myths, misconceptions and inaccuracies. These misunderstandings contribute to the opacity of AI systems, rendering them magical, inscrutable and inaccessible in the eyes of the public.

If you really want to fly in the clouds, you first have to keep your feet on the ground.

I would rephrase that because every genius was ridiculed, even Einstein.  However, good ideas are based on testable hypotheses. Ideas based on observable phenomena help form such testable hypotheses. Arguments like: "Well, we don't know everything so who knows what's possible" aren't based on anything that's testable, they might be based on some observation, but those are usually not repeatable.

When you realize that the light bulb was an idea that was completely understood before Edison developed an electric light bulb. All the math and physics were already established by renowned scientists before Edison invented a workable solution! None of the 19th century scientists at the time could figure out what materials to use for the filament for a light bulb. It was Edison that literally tested thousands of materials before landing on something that would work.

So, no matter how ambitious your idea(s) might be don't let that discourage you if you are working with testable concepts, just because the smartest people in the world haven't done it doesn't mean it's not possible. All it means is those experts don't know how to do it, so if you think you can go for it!  O0

Maybe infinite computing is possible,  its no good saying it cant be true until you've actually tried.   O0

This is my very point; the term infinite is a bad word in science. Why? How do you test something that's infinite? In fact, when maths show something that's infinite it is usually viewed as not real.

I have a problem with the debunked myth "Superintelligence is coming soon"

Korrelan says he's close to AGI......so ASI follows within 2-10 years by just speeding the thing up and cloning adult AGIs etc...

I guess this woman is a lunatic, someone whose feet aren't well-grounded, dare thee challenge Einstein himself?
