Bad news about Spore...
« on: September 26, 2008, 03:17:26 pm »
Ok, recently, I bought Spore, and I was throughly enjoying it.

Then, big suprise, my computer crashed (from a securtiy update that caused my computer to think it hadnt been activated)

So, I did a repair installation. This entails just about every piece of software has to be reinstalled, otherwise it may be unstable.

Imagine my shock, my horror! when Spore told me I wasnt allowed to install it.

So, it seems like it's a one use DRM policy.

Now, i'm not for IP theft, but I am seriously considering calling upon BitTorrent to help me resolve this; I spent 40 on software I cant bloody use!)

Must be an error with your system....did you make sure all registry entries were removed before reinstalling?

Spore/EA has a 3 time installation protection on this game, so if was only your second installation there should not have been any issues.

And YES...this is a major problem and issue, when a pirate can distribute this game, allowed to share content online and bypass the copy protection...why are we paying good money out ???

This has annoyed me too, as on average I reformat my drive every 6-8 months, so next year I need to contact EA just to get a new reg code?

Annoying, ridiculous, uneeded and will push more people to piracy...

When will these idiots learn?

Agreed, you cant stop people pirating a game, or anything else; other companies have seen this and quite a few have put their content online, free of charge (this is what drove TV to be online, South Park is entirely online for free, for instance)

Personally, I dont agree with theft because I respect the person I would be buying from to keep true to his word, but when you have something like this? 50 on software that will lock itself down and that i've got to waste time trying to play it when I should be enjoying it?
