Computer algorithms capable of playing the perfect game of checkers or Texas Hold'em poker have achieved success so far by efficiently calculating the best strategies in advance. But some computer scientists want to create a different form of artificial intelligence that can play any new game without the benefit of prior knowledge or strategies.
