I was watching a video of its predecessor earlier today. It's like the sci-fi robot you wanted as a kid. I liked its previous face better, but I guess they turned it black to save on energy.
That price is extremely cheap for a robot. See, this is the advantage of wheels over bipeds: They're actually affordable.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.

NEC actually had a "roll-about" the home robot named, PaPeRo, that was fairly small, had voice and facial recognition plus control of TV, and other appliances and Internet feeds for weather, etc.

The company kept showing and telling all about it but for some reason, it never made it to the big time (global public distribution).

Speaking of wheeled or rolling bots, there was an experimental bot that rolled about (quite nicely) on just One large ball. It was called Ballbot and was fairly tall. It was capable of following, balancing, assisting with moving or carrying objects but had no hands to speak of. More of a rolling / assistive platform.
