It seems that competition is a good thing. It tends to help bring out the best in all sorts of possibilities and products.
This one while similar to the EmoSpark Cube, seems to have more personality and can interact with your devices within and outside your home. It has a Power Badge so you can take it with you. I found these three articles plus the Indiegogo.

Looks pretty good. The second video was a bit cheesy but it made me chuckle.

I liked the way Cubic handled 'it' in the video with the fans and heater.

It was a bit slow chatting I thought.

Another good find Art  O0

I was reading through the site, and I found this typo... "Cubic programing language".

With respect, the spelling of the word Programing or Programming is largely dependent upon the Country in which the print was intended.

Programing = USA whereas Programming = UK / England, etc.

This is according to various sources and I suppose is almost akin to color vs colour or honor vs honour or behavior vs behaviour etc.

My one question is how on Earth do those Speech Recognition programs recognize the Queen's English vs American English? Quite a sound / pronunciation difference to the uninitiated.

Not just that but in the UK we have loads of accents, like you do in the US or any country.

One of the first speech recognition programs I tried must have been 15 years back and I had to do an American accent to get it to work. It was pretty crap anyway by today's standards. Mostly it just automated web browsing - I don't think it did much more than navigate pages. It was cool for a short time though.

Nowadays my Android phone recognised my speech very well indeed and of course does a lot more.

Yes, Freddy, I completely forgot about slangs and drawl accents within various countries.

At least with some effort Northern USA can understand Southern and Eastern and Western and Midwest. All same language just sped up, slowed down or drawn out a bit more. I'm sure the UK has it's share as well. A friend from there once mentioned something about Cockney Rhyming Slang, which I'm sure amused him but I had a difficult seeing the "connections" or the humor. It's one of those, "You had to be there" things, I'm sure.
And the Irish and Scottish (my kin)...which I can barely understand once they get all cylinders fired up! ;)
Chinese from the north can't understand folks from the south and there are so many different dialects within the country.

I'd hate to be the company trying to develop Speech Recognition systems!!! Come to think of it, I love my job...I love my job!!! ;)

This, I believe, is also an Android device according to its operating system specification.

With all due respect,

Technically, Android is owned by Google and is used as the internal Operating System. This is a cubicrobotics company / product, for now. They also use the Google Speech along with some other custom features.

It does sound like the most promising of the four mentioned products so far. (unless you really need to have a device snap a photo for you).

I also think it chose Android OS as it is more geared toward an Open Source construction / 3rd party support. It is also ahead of Windows and Apple by 5 to 7 percent in terms of popularity, Applications and hits. Google and their Android OS are giants and will likely enjoy that status for some time to come. Apple might be a decent OS but they have never catered to the more "cost effective" market, but usually tried to set themselves above the rest.
Oh well.... It is what it is....

I think this is the most promising one so far too. I like that chat feature, but I hope they can speed it up a bit.

I believe Android is a great OS, not just because it's free. I enjoyed programming in Java for it when I was working on a bot for my phone. Never completed it in the end as CallMom came along.

Considering this is run on Android it would be cool to create your own custom chatbot for it. I don't know if that's possible, will have to go back and read some more about it.

@ Freddy,

You mean as a possible addition or enhancement to the onboard script data? Maybe like adding a custom modified AIML type script to the existing?
That would be cool if allowable. If Cloud based perhaps. They did say there would be an SDK sort of Developers Kit which might also open some doors for customization as well.

I dare say we'll see some more entries similar to this in the coming year. Competition being what it is and everyone will be trying to "jump" on the proverbial bandwagon to get their piece of the pie! Oh yeah! O0

Any which way really. AIML would be cool and easy to get started with.

I'm sure we will see more, this means that perhaps the prices will come down.
