Robots could soon take over the world and wipe out humanity says Martin Rees
21 May 2015, 12:00 am

Artificial intelligence is progressing at a frightening pace leading humanity towards its ultimate destruction. This is according to British theoretical astrophysicist, Sir Martin Rees, who believes we are facing an 'inorganic post-human era'.

"theoretical astrophysicist"?  :2funny:

Don't worry, when my robots take over the world it will be all according to plan, not by accident.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.

Actually it is good that the world is starting to thinking about dangers of AI. That way AI researchers will be more cautious when programming the thing. Thing *could* be more dangerous than splitting atoms, so  it has to be approached with special care. But to stop the whole research about AI? There is too much  to gain in positive meaning to just run away because of fear of the worst case (which should never happen if we are careful enough). That is like we forbid to use fire because someone could be burnt. I'd expect more form a scientist.

Its definitely got me stumped beyond some kind of better automation,  which could definitely help everything without being intelligent.
But like Ivan said,  what if there is a horribly unified technique we havent thought of yet,  that makes it so anyone can do it,  just copying the idea.

Just think, it only took one guy to feedback wire two nor gates, (ram unit) then on goes the bandwagon of bums copying and improving his idea.

Just another brick in the wall. (yes, I said brick).

Oh!! The sky is falling!..the sky is falling!!, said a diminutive storybook chicken.

They almost act as if the entirety of human scientists worldwide are creating these "Things" in their labs to be remotely unleashed upon the world at large...to plunder, rampage, kill all living things! Then settle down for some nice quite time, a dose of WD-40 and some recharging for those tired aching actuators! Yes...that's the life...artificially speaking, of course! O0 :2funny:

I wonder, after the dust settles from this worldwide takeover, would the A.I. / robots / androids, develop a societal hierarchy, choosing a non-biological leader, or would their minds be a universally connected machine where one thought becomes distributed to all within the "network"? Hmmm... Again that sounds like the movie iRobot.

Don't know, but they always say, Today's Sci-Fi soon becomes tomorrow's Science Fact!  We'll see....
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

its foolish to speculate.    but some speculations are correct.

Technology is used for constructivity.   But they are also used for weapons in some of these posts here from the bot girl?
