The vibe I'm getting from commentators is that the main advance here is the low cost (assuming that really turns out according to Tesla's estimates). So far the abilities are things that have been done before.

Because having a working bot is a huge plus (2 good), they might be keeping the real one a secret backstage, you never know, I bet boston dynamics have hidden things they didn't show.

So far the abilities are things that have been done before.

Largely it is, but they're demonstrating small enhancements to vision systems/depth processing (similar in VR/AR technology room modelling), and a full system approach of hardware (Tesla microprocessor/AI processor), and software.

The use in vehicle navigation is much improved as well - using small blocks to represent any moving object on the road, and predicting whether cars will run red lights.

As Musk doesn't believe in closed patents, all this is available to anyone without having to use a Qualcomm chip or other device.

I expected far less given the timeframe, so I pity the engineers who likely worked themselves to death just to save Musk's face. I will never not be impressed with humanoid robots, but I remain of opinion that bipedal robots are a bad idea from the angle of basic physics, and I don't trust the price tag at all. The much simpler Pepper robot sold at $2500 on the price tag, but the full contract included a 3-year subscription that amounted to $10K.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.
