Expert claims intelligent robots could wipe out humanity
29 June 2015, 12:00 am

From The Terminator to Transcendence, Hollywood sci-fi films have taught us not to trust robots. Now one expert has made a prediction that's just as terrifying as the bleakest plot: that in the future, intelligent robots will be smarter and faster than humans, take over the running of countries and have the ability to wipe us out altogether.

Well, this time at least it is an actual academic AI expert, just... with a less credible vision than Stephen Hawking. Weird.

Quote
Stuart Armstrong’s research at the Future of Humanity Institute centres on formal decision theory, the risks and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence, the long term potential for intelligent life, and anthropic (self-locating) probability.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.

Perhaps but it is still "His" vision no matter how obfuscated it might be.

Personally, I've really come to hold dear, Mr. Ray Kurzweil's famous quote which I believe contains a certain amount of truth:
"Non-biological intelligence is growing exponentially. Biological intelligence isn't really growing at all or if it's growing, it's growing at such a slow rate that it's not noticeable which is why non-biological intelligence ultimately will become dominant."
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
