Facebook has created an AI that can understand memes

'Rosetta' will help moderate offensive content.

Quote
Rosetta is a "large-scale" machine learning system designed to extract text from public Facebook and Instagram images and videos (in a "wide variety" of languages), and determine the context of the text and image together.
*snip*
However, Rosetta could have further uses down the line. In addition to offering enhanced moderation, it can improve the accuracy of personalized News Feed content, while also boosting the "relevance and quality" of on-site image search results.

"Rosetta will almost certainly be a controversial tool for certain members of the meme-loving public, but here's hoping the technology will prove smart enough to distinguish between silly-but-harmless content and truly offensive imagery."

This should definitely prove to be interesting.  I can see captions of all kinds in an effort to "mislead" the program from the image being portrayed. It should be fun to watch!

It seems that some people really hate being told, This program is going to end this problem or it is going to fix this or that. Some view that as a challenge, sort of like the Hacker who is told that some site can't be broken or hacked!! Oh yeah...just wait. O0
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

I've never had a Facebook account or anything of the sort. I'm just not that interesting that people need to know intimate details about my personal life and I don't necessarily want them to.

Rue,

I was speaking figuratively as I don't care who walked their dog or what they did, nor do I wish to hang out my private laundry for the world to view.

It's worse than Selfies! Oh wait...maybe...
