Go, Marvin Minsky, and the Chasm that AI Hasn’t Yet Crossed
31 January 2016, 12:26 am

Int he very same week that Artificial Intelligence lost one of its greatest pioneers, Marvin Minsky, it saw major progress on a decades-old challenge of playing human-level Go. There is much to shout about, but also a lot of hype and confusion about what we just saw. With so much at stake as people try to handicap the future of AI, and what it means for the future of employment and possibly even the human race, it’s important to understand what was and was not yet accomplished.

I disagree with the author on this point. There is a HUGE difference between being realistic and cautious with something and handicapping it. No one is trying to say don't work on AI. They are saying be damn careful with what you do with the AI. Humans are our own worst enemy. IF there is a way to use it as a weapon well guess what it is going to be used as one. We as humans don't trust the unknown. The thought of creating a intelligent being that can think is frightening. If we can not trust each other how are we going to be able to trust something else. That is what this whole thing boils down to in my opinion.
So sue me

Not only that DemonRaven, but what kind of safeguards or failsafe or ulterior motive or backdoor or any other subversive or nefarious device, code, etc. might they include as a built-in feature? ("They" being whomever creates or builds said A.I.).
We need some trusted watchers to watch the watchers watching the builders and coders and.... ;)

Trust no one with your own privacy or security!!
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
