Eye Spy - Guess your age and Gender...
« on: April 24, 2019, 01:13:53 pm »
How about your weight and mood or emotional state?
Just because you can't see them doesn't mean you aren't being watched...

But in a Retail store? Yeah...scary no matter how you spin it. :o

It's like the joke where a guy enters a cafeteria and says "Can I get a coffee without cream please?"  the waiter says "I'm sorry we only have milk. I can't give you coffee without cream, I can only give you coffee without milk." You can't tell the difference by analyzing the coffee, or person. You have to take the whole situational matrix into account to understand the difference. I don't think AI is anywhere close to that level yet.

interesting because cream=milk and cant give you without cream isn't possible since they don't have it at least if you think bout it like that while on the other hand they can give him coffee without cream and indeed without milk...

to put it simple, yes, they can....and cream=milk in my brain sorta a lot

Cream does NOT equal Milk. Cream is the milkfat or butterfat that rises to the top of Milk when fresh, whole milk is left standing.
It is used in many cooking recipes and is not Milk but rather a byproduct of milk.

Might want to re-evaluate your formula condition.

They can easily give him coffee without cream because they don't have cream to begin with.

"Here's your coffee, Sir. No cream, just like you asked."

It may not change the coffee on the table. But it changes the coffee in the mind. I don't know why such a distinction might be useful except that it adds depth to our perception of reality, which is nice, but may also have unknown practical reasons.

Black coffee is the main ingredient. Cream is an additive. Not adding it doesn't change the mental image of coffee in my mind. I see a cup with black liquid in it. Only adding it changes that image.

An A.I. would see what the customer wanted as coffee. Cream would be seen as a variable. Since it wasn't called it wouldn't throw an error by not having cream on hand as an additive and would serve up a cup of black coffee as ordered. No problem at all.

I think context can change perception in a qualitative way. It's like the hobbit, there and back again. Upon his return, being aware of the outside world, (absent though it is in the Shire), makes Bilbo see the Shire in a new light.
