In my opinion, analog AI is slightly overrated. Yes, analog does have some advantages over digital, and digital has quite a few disadvantages, but digital has its upsides too.

For example:

Data transmissions: Analog is subjected to deterioration by noise during transmission and write/read cycle. Digital can be noise-immune without deterioration during transmission and write/read cycle.

Flexibility: Analog hardware is not flexible. Digital hardware is flexible in implementation.

Power: Analog instrument draws large power. Digital instrument draws only negligible power.

Errors: Analog instruments usually have a scale which is cramped at lower end and give considerable observational errors. Digital instruments are free from observational errors like parallax and approximation errors.

I think good or even conscious/self-aware AI can be done both ways, each with their own ups and downs. I'm hopeful that my AGI will be computationally cheap with its current layout and some modifications.

Yes, that's often overlooked. Just as an aside; I sometimes see people saying they are going to get some fancy gold plated expensive DVI cable because they want a better picture than the one relayed by their sufficient cheap as chips cable.
