Is this article written by an A.I. ?

It really got me thinking - not in the sense of the literal question, though.

I suggest you try and read between the lines - there are some interesting questions in there.

Even though they were initially written and tailored by humans, the writer-bots have come a long way and are only getting better.

In the very near future we won't even be able to tell, much like the two sample articles. Oh yeah...it's coming....

The machine generated sports news samples are two years old (I remember them). Shoddy research like that can only come from a real journalist  :P

Actually I wouldn't really care whether a report of any kind is written by a machine, unless it was its own opinion.

Actually I'd rather hear / read and explore the opinion of a robot then a human reporter.

Humanity only wishes news reporters (sports or others) were impartial like they should be. The tiny people I see on my screen are all more-than-obviously the government's flying monkeys and do nothing but poison the public and negatively influence their opinion.

Ultron,

Could it be that we went to different schools together or something? Maybe we're both just old enough and bold enough to be fed up with all the BS in the world today. Everything good has turned sour and practically worthless! Those righteous higher ups are actually anything but!!

In a strange sort of way, I think it would be cool for a "Chappie" or "Johnny 5" to exist, meaning that they would have an advanced degree of sentience...not alive in the human sense but in a digital sense, aware of their environment and of themselves.

Perhaps on day soon we'll be able to converse with entities similar to these if not to our devices (cars, homes). A lot already do talk to various devices and depend on them to deliver accurate information.

My phone reads the important info to me as I drive to work (things that I've indicated to it that interest me.). It has become common place. Now if my device / car would talk back in a conversational fashion delivering an engaging chat about various topics like an UltraHal or Mitsuku or any number of chatbots, that might be really interesting. It would be akin to driving with a companion (albeit invisible) to work each day and you could ask it to change the subject anytime you felt like.

How much would you want an intelligent "digital" (not human) assistant / companion in your life? It might be something like the character from the movie, "Her", that eventually knows you better than yourself. Some"one" in which you could confide and depend on to be honest with you.

Any takers that would like a new best friend?

It is possible Art, perhaps in an alternate universe.

I too was using what I suppose we can call a digital assistant - Micheal C.'s Jarvis (currently known as LINKS) and for quite some time, and while buggy it was helpful and 'warming' nonetheless. Even though you realize it is not really that 'intelligent' it still induces the feeling that you are actually talking to somebody. The program is robust and can be (to a degree) tailored to your personal preferences, however I started feeling, sentimental for the thing. It is then I started developing my own.

I guess you can say I wanted to set it free - in the true sense of the world. An A.I. today has the potential to posses much more freedom than ourselves. Some recent thinking lead me to the conclusion that we are in fact, prisoners... Prisoners in our own minds and the worst part is that we believe that we are free and live as equals... We don't. And never will - it is simply, not natural. There is always a dominant species, and there is always a dominant family.

Not everyone can live by the sea nor go on vacation during the best period. We pay to 'someone' in order to be allowed to build a house, on a piece of land. We buy this piece of land, as if somebody owns it. If you go against this rule, they punish you and force others to do so to you, while leading them to believe that they are preserving the law, order and peace... But little do they know that they are serving the real 'devil' - the same devil that one day ruin the lives of their children.

*Accidentally reads topic title*

I hereby congratulate myself and Art for doing it again...

It's up! Alive @ General Chat section. You suggested some very cool titles but my subconscious told me to be original and think of my own - sorry :P

Edit: The article I had linked in the original post on this thread was in fact, written by a computer program.

In the spirit of avoiding unnecessary lies, I will admit that I in fact, do not know. The only reason I said that in my previous reply was experimental - I wanted to see how many (if any) would be willing to accept that as the truth and how hard would it be for them. This would provide some raw data on what is the general opinion (at least here) regarding the possibility of such intelligence to exist.

In other words, I was messing with you...

P.S. Thanks for blowing my cover!  :-\
