Mathcraft from Cycorp
« on: October 30, 2016, 10:03:41 pm »
Cycorp has released a new system of educational software for beta testing.

http://www.cyc.com/mathcraft/

Mathcraft teaches mathematics by emulating a student for the human learner to teach. The student "lives" in a spaceship game world where they are confronted by real world problems and it is the task of the learner to teach the student how to solve them.

You can watch this short but very informative video to see how this works. It's extremely clever software.

It still comes down to equations, nevertheless.

Whilst it appears to be a good idea to emulate math and all those features in game, there's a hassle-free and more direct version that works online and video-based instead, that also tracks user grading, progression, achievements, tests, and scoring. It also has more than just maths; Science, computing, and arts.

In my opinion, the Kahn Academy is one of the best things to come along. One can study and learn just about anything at the Kahn Academy.
Of course one can also sit in on some classes at M.I.T. online if desired but the overall learning experience isn't the same.

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
