Minecraft Is a Testing Ground for Human-AI Collaboration
21 July 2016, 12:00 am

The blockish and slightly dorky computer game Minecraft may turn out to be a great place for humans and AI to learn how to work together. An experimental new version of the game, released by Microsoft researchers this month, can be used to train an AI to perform all sorts of tasks, from crossing bridges to building complex objects.

I looked into this a little - it's a github project with installs/guides for multiple platforms and languages - C++, Java, C#, Python.  It runs minecraft onyour machine and gives your agent a world to play in and potentially goals.  You can build your own agent and run it against a 'mission' file... which has a goal or whatever - you can build missions/maps etc.  Seems VERY well thought out and I'm impressed with the initial guide which makes it seem like a fully complete product.

It's also obvious they want you to attempt to build intelligence rather than what they call 'cheating'.

The Tutorial is clear and gently guides from simple to complex.

Here's the 'tutorial': https://github.com/Microsoft/malmo/blob/master/Malmo/samples/Python_examples/Tutorial.pdf

Exciting, Thanks for posting Tyler!
