Google makes email smart enough to answer for you
3 November 2015, 12:00 am

DUBLIN -- Google doesn't presume to know what you're thinking, but the Internet giant will offer its best guess with a new email feature called "smart reply. " Unveiled Tuesday, the smart-reply feature in the Inbox by Gmail app analyzes the text of incoming email and offers three tailored responses that you can ignore or customize.

At first I thought they'd built the intelligent auto-responder I wanted to program, but no, they have a neural network suggest 3 possibly appropriate responses that you can choose from.

I noticed some of the replies it suggests in another article: http://mashable.com/2015/11/03/google-inbox-smart-reply/#MJQS5MF_p8qY

Be it a different technique, the suggestions surprisingly resemble something one could do with chatbots. "Did you * ?" -> "yes, I did / doing it now / no I didn't". I'm now wondering how fit Mitsuku would be for the task of automatic email responder. (there are some email-to-php services online that could make this possible).
