IBM scientists predict that a sensor revolution over the next five years will increasingly enable computers to touch, see, hear, taste and smell, in their way. The advancing sensory capabilities are vital to cognitive computing in which computers can sense, adapt and learn, operating a bit more like humans and less like machines.
