Scientists See Promise in Deep-Learning Programs

I stumbled across this article, thought it was interesting, I can't help but think 2012 has been a good year when it comes to Ai developments. After all it was the year that Legion came to life   8)

Nice find Data an interesting read.  There was one line - "raising the specter of automated robots that could replace human workers" - which seemed a bit weird, have they never seen video of a factory these days ?  For example cars...or a whole load of things made by machine.

Also I don't want machines to drive my car for me, I like driving cars.  ^-^

Yes good point, there are some things that no matter how good the Ai is, it's still going to be more fun doing it yourself. driving being the perfect example.

I guess for those who can't drive, for what ever reason, there is a niche in the market.

Oh yes, you are certainly right about that, very useful to those who cannot drive for whatever reason.  Mine as usual was a knee jerk reaction to change  ;D
