Details on the event here (https://aisb.org.uk/new_site/?page_id=2)
Squarebear is on the scene with Mitsuku, and my own AI is also participating, along with previous Loebner Prize contestants and some new ones.

Good luck to all of you that are competing

Yes good luck all :)

I was fortunate enough to win the 2019 Loebner Prize! Yay me!
Not sure why the BBC think I'm still a hobbyist though. When I was talking to the reporter I made it clear I now do this as a full time profession.
-
Congrats Steve!!
Just watch...they'll publish something declaring you as a Full-Time Hobbyist! ;)
You know how those reporters can be.
At any rate, enjoy your victory! O0

Well done again Steve! O0
Were the BBC filming there or was it for their website?
Edit: I see they called you a hobbyist here too: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-49578503
Pretty good hobby if you make a living from it ;D
This made me laugh:
"Loebner's eccentric personality did not help much. He was a very provocative man, quite blunt and said some very dumb things that annoyed a lot of people. Personally I was highly amused by him. He told me that the reason why he started the competition was that he just wanted to be famous," said Prof Sharkey.
Mr Loebner also dedicated his time to fighting for the rights of sex workers and would often turn up to the competition with "young women on his arms," he added.

Congrats Steve and good luck. O0

@Freddy haha! I'm laughing too! Nice to see someone is funky! Lol. Cool.
"Just watch...they'll publish something declaring you as a Full-Time Hobbyist! ;)"
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) !!!
Do yous know what a hobbyist means?

If you could somehow manage to cram 1000 terrabytes of chat text into a big server, I think it then probably still wouldn't be enough. :2funny:

Nobody filmed the event and only around 20 people in total showed up in the last 3 days as nobody had any clue it was happening. In contrast, the first day was crazy when 240 schoolcildren turned up!
-
Dare I ask if the school children were there for the competition? XD

Dare I ask if the school children were there for the competition? XD
Haha! I think they were just skipping school! ;)
-
If it were me, I'd have the competition right at the school :D
I mean, with so few people showing up at the competition, it's the ideal place to get more judges with open minds and teach the younger generation what the future holds for chatbots.

It sort of seems like the Promotions Director dropped the ball on the event. ???

You're not kidding. There was zero promotion for this event and this was obvious when nobody turned up for 3 days! Even the university staff were unaware of it, as we turned up on Saturday to find all the doors locked :(

Such a shame...
Hugh would not have been amused in the slightest!! :knuppel2:

The BBC reporting your avocation has greater promotional value for your vocation, I think.
