We have a long way to go if we want virtual assistants to understand us. Siri: Okay, from now on I'll call you "an ambulance.

Aaaaand thanks for calling the programs stupid chatbots, MIT. Real mature.
Too bad about an otherwise good article.
CO2 retains heat. More CO2 in the air = hotter climate.

Joseph Weizenbaum said, "No other organism, and certainly no computer, can be made to confront genuine human problems in human terms," which makes me wonder how different chatbots might be, had he not become the leading critic of them.

Even though English is my primary language, if he would have spoken just a little bit faster I would not have been able to understand him!! He kept glancing at his watch as if he had another place to be.

Yes, I too was disappointed in his presentation in which he stated that he and his colleagues are on the verge of something really great, but he's not going to tell us. OK...so there's 18 minutes of my life wasted hearing about who he is and the books he's written, how stupid ordinary A.I. systems are and that his is going to be super!

Egos can sometimes defy laws of physics. They can actually seem larger than the vessel holding them!
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
