It's "Earth Observer 1," a "real" A.I. which belongs to NASA. Designed to observe the earth for anomalous events, it learns from its experiences and can also prioritize its own resources based on its assessment of its observations.

I wonder if this is where all of the info and web resource files
for hexbot and TANU technologies disappeared to?

Art has been running searches for material on hexbot and TANU
for weeks now and the only thing locatable is some old news articles
siting hexbot and TANU technology. But nothing newer than 2004.
All other resources have disappeared from the web.

It would be interesting to know if TANU and hexbot technology
is at the core of EO-1.

My thoughts exactly, Gamer-T!! :knuppel2
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

This "sensorweb" technology could also be VERY helpful in autonomous automobiles, so that they can slow down, notify driver of inclimate weather or traffic problems ahead or at any point on their trip, etc.

BTW, There's also AI in cars now. I saw an ad on TV recently of the new Prius which can parallel park by itself!

As for Hexbot:

http://cognews.com/1080763486/index_html

Look at the bottom of the page. Looks like the hexbot@hexbot.com posted it and it looks like a spam post. Maybe they got pulled off the web for spamming??

Right now, hexbot.com redirected to this page:

http://64.251.14.166/~l33thoxar/test.html

~|33thoxar is basically "leetspeak" for "Leet Hacker", meaning that the whole thing might have been a hoax by someone trying to do something not so nice? Maybe not but it looks strange. Especially the files in his home page:

http://64.251.14.166/~l33thoxar/

Looking around, esp. at the images, it looks like he was creating some kind of program to connect to the internet and upload something. There were things like video xml, and other stuff. Just looks like he was experimenting with stuff, not necessarily chatbot.

Makes me wonder if his site got pulled or something?

And being it's not a domain name but an IP address is more of a clue that maybe he got the domain cancelled or whatever but the hosting didn't pull the files or whatever? DNS redirected to the hosting for that domain, and showed the files, but the domain name doesn't exist or may be suspended or something?

Most of the links in the post don't resolve (ie. "Server not found").

Here is some info on TANU and where you could probably talk to others that might now about it:

http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/AI_Chatbot.asp

TANU, btw, stands for "Transplantable Artificial Neurological Units". You can see a bunch of links relating to this from google here:

Here's more info:

Note that http://www.p2bconsortium.com/ and http://www.chatbot.us/ are also not found. So they are offline as well.
