Glad you were able to find the problem. :) I own a car site and hang out in that one and one other, so I kinda learn a few things. :) In addition, I've known at least one neighbor that had that very same problem.

Going back to the original subject of Cyborgs and the meshing or intermingling of human-
flesh, blood and bone with artificially created electro-mechanical devices either imbedded
or temporary external enhancements.? I for one agree that what a person decides to do to
their own bodies is up to them, as long as it does not adversely affect or cause harm to
anyone else. I guess when considering what constitutes the definition of what a cyborg is,
then I am an example if you take it as meaning any external mechanical enhancement, or
anyone else confined to a wheelchair; depending on it for their mobility. Although to be
perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind having a man-made cybernetic spine & lungs. So "Borg" me.? ? ?

 ? ? :crazy2 maybe.

It also depends on what exactly is meant by "harm someone else". For all practical purposes, someone could be emotionally harmed or "freaked out" by the site of a cyborg with certain type of enhancements. Maybe the Cyborg finds it enjoyable or finds they can live a better life. But someone seeing the enhancement (maybe too robotic for their liking) might feel "harmed" by the very sight.

We can't worry about other people being "harmed". We need to enjoy our lives and enhance them any way we can without worry. If of course, it was a built in laser gun that could vaporize people you don't like, that'd be one thing. But an implant that connects you for instance to your car's AI system is quite another. It could be a great assistance and who's to stop one from haivng it? Or someone with a detachable cybernetic red eye (aka Borg type) which lets them access computer information like a computer monitor in front of their eye. What's wrong with it? If others think it's "unethical" or "ugly" it's really none of their business, I say.

I've seen this happen even with people with disabilities where people would get freaked out by a man with a prosthetic robotic arm or at the sound of a man with a robotic-sounding voice box unit.

Thom - I would consider you a cyborg, technically. Nothing at all wrong with that. And if you happen to run over someone's foot, they should get out of the way, not yell that they were "harmed". ;)

I think the most "harm" comes to those who are victims of predjudice and the "uncanny Valley" syndrome than anything else. But that's just my .02 worth. :)

Yes it would be sad for someone who had regained a limb or something to have to go through another set of problems with other peoples perceptions.
