Adding brain/mind files
« on: August 29, 2015, 04:25:34 pm »
I was digging around on the web for AI/Chatbots websites and ran across a mention of a website that no longer exists that used to keep mind files of various chatbots. I have written to a few of the creators of those chatbots and i have gotten  replies back from two of them so far  giving me permission to host the brain/mind files at my site. I realize that some won't want to share because of the personal nature of those conversations  But for those that do want to share get in contact with me and I will load them up to my website.  You can get in touch with me here:  http://chatbotfriends.altervista.org/email.htm

I think there were also a couple of mind files for the bot named Prelude or Prelude#

It was actually a learning bot from a few years ago (maybe 4-6) and had some promise.

The mind files were typical of an AIML structure but need some editing to remove some garbage talk.

I believe the author's name was/is Lennart Lopin or something similar (apologies for misspellings).

I know who you are talking about. I have his link at my website. He however does not have mind files around any more.

Yes, but I do! Two or three of Prelude's mind files.

One issue DemonRaven, most of the bots for which you wish the have MIND files uploaded, no longer work under Windows 7, 8, etc. so why the bother, if I may ask?

I've spoken with Greg Leedburg and he wrote Daisy then Billy while a college student many years ago. He indicated that he had no desire to make them compatible with anything other that the OS at the time which was likely Win 95, XP or similar. Prelude did work on early Win 7 before MS did some "upgrades" and "patches".

While I have no problem with the upload to your site, I have to wonder, why?

With my windows 8 i can use compatibility to make most of the older chatbots work. I think they should not be lost. New is  not always better. I do it for the same reason that i dig for older chatbot programs that are lost. They deserve a place in history and on the web.

There are also a lot of different kinds of emulators that allow a person to run the older programs as well. Even DOS ones can be run using a DOSBox. They even  have emulators for android and itunes programs. The one for itunes does not work as well with many of their programs.

There are not a lot of newer chatbots on the market for regular computers most are all for the stupid android and other cell phones. I dislike those with a passion as you really cant do much with them if u like creating websites, playing the full version of virtual worlds etc.

As a side note I do tend to pester older chatbot programmers to try to make some for the newer stuff. So far I have not been successful. Oh well..
