Open Source AI projects
« on: December 07, 2007, 01:43:31 pm »
If you are looking for an interesting AI project then SourceForge has a lot of files available.  Here's an example search below.

What I would like to do is delve into a wider field of AI projects so that they could be discussed and even developed via the forum.  If anyone has any links to AI projects that are open source then please drop your links here.  This should go some way to widening our coverage of core AI projects, which has not grown as well as the graphics and interface sides.

Thanks.

Further to this...

I have an idea to create a new section called 'Resources' that will basically be a directory to open source (primarily) AI programming material.  The notion is that members/visitors will be able to find active programming projects and source code for building AI systems and related projects.

Any contributions to this end are welcome - ie, links, notification of current projects, state of projects, how to get involved etc etc.  Just post the details in this thread.  At some later point I can assemble the directory.

The quiet lurkers out there are invited to contribute as well as the regular members.  Thanks for any help in this.

AnswerPad

This is an older chatbot system originally develped by David Whalley but is now being altered quite a lot by a few programmers who have come up with newer versions with added features.

The main place to talk about this is here...

The original AnswerPad source code and some of the new incarnations can be found here...

So what ever happened to this out of curiosity? I'm considering creating a project for my a.i. project at sourceforge.

So is Freddy taking a leave of absence for a while or is he just out for the day?

Well it's called having too many things on the back burner...  Also, I didn't really get any help, so yes it diminished and faded.  But it's never too late to revisit an old thread, if you want to inject new life into it then go right ahead.  If I come up with anything I will post here.

I think the main reason was I took over the Chatterbot Collection, and in some ways that sort of fulfilled some of the ideas behind this thread.  I would like to hear about any nice open source projects though which we can promote.

I don't know of any open source projects I could share with the community, but don't we have our own board where people can post about their projects? I think it's a child board in the "General Chat" section. "Experiments and Projects"

You are correct - yes we do... possibly better to post in there then.

This thread was meant to be about chat-bots specifically, whereas the 'projects' board was more general.  Maybe a rethink is needed now though.
