Molecular logic gates.
« on: April 08, 2022, 10:18:22 pm »
I was inspired by MagnusWootton's post on a mechanical logic gate and remembered how molecular engines worked inside cells and wondered if a logic gate could be made from them. While I didn't find anything based on molecular engines I did find quite a few papers on using proteins to build logic circuits.  This paper is very good where it describes abilities to build very complex logic, and perhaps hints at the kind of logic that is happening inside of biological neurons! And this paper is very interesting in that it demonstrates the possibility of monitoring activity on a molecular level and outputting it optically! This means we could literally monitor the logical processing inside living neurons.

The potential demonstrated by these papers is phenomenal, where if we could couple these processes with a quantum entangled approach where the entangled atoms that can monitor proteins interact against the folding protein structure being monitored which is the output of the internal logic of a neuron would allow the ability to integrate with a quantum computer at a molecular level. Not only that but it would pave the way for literally storing human consciousness in a quantum computer.    :D

For recreational reading on this subject, Neal Stephenson's awarding novel "The Diamond Age" is worth your time.

I've seen them animate those natural organism cells at the molecular level (to the atom.)   I saw it on wikipedia it was this cell that was splicing the dna chain?  It was going through it like a machine gun, and it was invented by nature???   I've got no idea how they can visualize such things, and ppl that can are pretty amazing and more high level than just a guy that does ordinary mechanical machines.

Mechanical machines are simpler, but I want to proove they can be just as effective,  they will do just about anything, but they cannot grant us immortality.
