Whole new perspective on the robo revolution...
« on: April 20, 2022, 11:52:08 pm »
Here's a real project, you can literally download the code that allows one to control your face with a PS4 controller! Yep, now patch this to something like GPT-3 and now you know where I'm going.  :D Here's where AI can just turn us into zombies as they control our faces and voices within our own bodies, effectively making humans puppets. For many, if not most, it will definitely be an improvement.  :2funny:

Actually, aliens from another star system can do it too. The ancients viewed it as some kind of possession, demonic or godly.  :2funny:

If you think about what you really want to do right now at various times of the day (at home, shopping, driving) and only terrorist acts come to mind.. what does that say?

You play too many war RPGs, or you have an idea for a movie script.

IMO it would say that you need to explore alternative paths to get better/ heal. Because that wouldn't be a good thing for you, not even, others.

Strange post but thought I'd give advice on the topic.

Concerning how humans farm pigs etc, I think it's dead wrong, but at least they only live short lives. If they lived longer, they could make it to the singularity. - None alive right now would likely be alive to be repaired of ageing.

Any normal person is beset with unwelcome impulses all day long and dealing with them appropriately is what makes us civilised. Some unfortunate people are not able to control their impulses though and for them it can be a real problem. Anyone who finds themselves acting on such impulses should seek help.

I had a friend who suffered from Tourette Syndrome. He came to visit one day and part way through he got up and walked out of the room. He didn't come back even though he had left all his gear there. We were unable to contact him and grew quite worried. About a week later he called and said he was in another city and had no idea how he had got there. It must be very hard to live with an affliction like that.

What point were you trying to make with this? I'm going to guess you were suggesting that it would be possible for one to know if one were being possessed/mind-controlled, by noticing that one's own thoughts were following an unfamiliar and hostile pattern.

And maybe that would be the case. Habits of self-awareness and frequent self-assessment are certainly one layer of defense. But a sufficiently sophisticated mind control might also be able to trick you into believing that the intrusive thoughts are normal. It's all theoretical at this point, so who knows?

At any rate, the original post doesn't look like it's about mind control - it's more of a peripheral nervous system override. No change to your thoughts.

I believe your perspective is from a western point of view largely from religious influences that have conditioned society to think thoughts such as sexual, or violent,  and/or both are shameful attributes, literally religion does assert that thoughts can be sins! Intuitively this might not make sense from an evolutionary perspective but realize that we are apes, we have a legacy of troop mentality and a very structured hierarchal social order. Shame can deemphasize self-esteem whereby attempting to cross hierarchal cast lines is discouraged by using this kind of conditioning. Effectively western religion's self-deprecating notions keep the order of society.  Because such thoughts have in the past been viewed as satanic or temptation from God they are considered as an external influence, even your own notion, Infurl, of impulses gives a connotation of a separation between man the animal and man the intellect and its some kind of battle between the two.  Our society has taught us to hate ourselves for something very trivial and since its something we think we are battling it is re-enforced as a reminder of who we are.

If we viewed such thoughts as silly rather than a type of weakness or shamefulness we'd learn to ignore them...

Maybe sex isn't that bad apart from people leaving their unwanted babies out in the cold to die, but violence is definitely wrong.  It doesn't take religion to tell you that.

True but that is the act of violence, thinking of violence isn't a crime.

Is this the case of the mad scientist drawn by curiosity and application into unethical practices again?

Is this the case of the mad scientist drawn by curiosity and application into unethical practices again?

The most important period of a human being's existence is between crowning and puberty. That period of life is when a person is most receptive to suggestion and turn them into habits through re-enforcement.  Teaching children how to regulate the ranges of anger including rage, jealousy, contempt, etc is pivotal. Those types of thoughts are what can cause a human being to act out violently. So, it is important that a human being know how to interpret those states of mind rather than build some kind of self-deprecating doctrine where there is no mechanism or process to cope with that kind of state of mind. The reason for that is those kinds of emotional reactions are natural for human beings, they will re-occur consistently because that is our legacy troop mentality paradigm.  How cultures cope with these kinds of states of mind applies to things like how to decide who or what is leadership. Where in some cultures there must be some kind of very aggressive response that communicates leadership. This explains why many countries, like Russia, have such brutish types of governments, and this has spaned from the Royals of Russia, the Soviet Union, and today with Putin.

In addition, our neurology does have a free-associative recall where influences come from just about anywhere and prompt attention because of some morbid feature that creates a fascination. That process is natural and gives us creativity, being aware of what the function of such abilities are is far more effective and productive to regulate acting on such notions rather than guilt and shame to control it.
