A few changes
« on: February 22, 2010, 07:24:54 pm »
Okay I made the changes a few of us were talking about.

We now have the new Software section - I also moved the Audio board into there as well as that's mostly about software really.

I added a description to each and every board that was missing one - which I hope will help people find the right spot.

I moved a lot of posts about graphics software into the Software section (graphics).

Hmm...and renamed Programming and Editing to just Programming and that's now in the AI section.

And finally I renamed the Sound and Vision section to simply Creativity, so it's a place for everyone to share things they make.

Hope that's everything, let me know if something is not quite right.  Thanks.

Anyone think the 'Experiment and Projects' board should be moved into the new 'Creativity' category ?

Might get more exposure there...

Its looking good Freddy, seems very clearly marked out, I will start work on posting some links soon, not sure when, got quite a bit of other work on right now, but it will happen  ;)

Not sure about the 'Experiment and Projects' being moved, some how it seems better where it is, hmm not sure, see what others think.

Thanks  :)  Yes the projects board might be best where it is really...probably I will leave it there then.

You could promote it to a parent board.

Good idea... at the moment you seem to be the only one making much use of it, so I will ask you - would you prefer it up under General Chat ?

Under General Chat as in the forum layout? Yes. That is exactly the spot I had in mind. It is your decision, but I thought I'd just make a suggestion. Thanks.

The new homepage is looking better, I particularly like the way it lists the resent topics, very nice, but how do you do that?, I looked at the html of the page but cant see how you managed to make it list the name of the topics. Obliviously the resent topics change and some how you make the page change too.

Clever  ;D

Hi all! And thanks to Freddy and to lrh9. Wow, the "Experiments and Projects" section at a "normal" location, can't believe it! 17 of 29 topics were started by me. I must apologize, I know I look ridiculous, but I thought it was the best place. Now it belongs to the past.

Making several Haptek characters to act in the same HTML page, adding javascripts, playing with stereo voices and finally with VB6 was a fantastic adventure. "Experiments and Projects", maybe, but above all, FUN FUN FUN and funny things!!!

When I see (not here) serious people posting their "work" for the "community" (thanks for sharing, lol) and saying it was not easy, and asking why nobody com(pli)ments, it makes me laugh. ;D

Ahhh...that's the power of PHP and dynamic content !

I can grab whatever I want from the forum database using SQL.  Then I use PHP to deliver it all as straight HTML arranged as I like and Bob's your uncle.  Easier said than done probably but it gets easier the more you do it.

But basically that whole page is generated by coding in PHP - you never see the code behind it - only what I decide to output in the form of HTML.  Does that make any sense ??  I hope it does.

GT40,

Yes we like a bit of fun here.  :D  Where have you been hiding ?  In Second Life I bet  ;)

You're right, Freddy. Two years ago, I was still using a computer from the last century, with Windows 98!! No SL for me. The good thing is I discovered Haptek characters and Pandorabots, and spent a lot of time with them. 8)

Now my "experiments and projects" are in SL, and I get a lot of FUN from them (I didn't write "work", never, lol). Just saying hi to friends here, from time to time. :)
