New Downloads section.
« on: June 29, 2007, 07:36:41 pm »
Hi folks, I have been busy coding in php and messing with SQL the last few days and have come up with something I hope you will all like.

I have given up on the old downloads section in favour of coding my own version, which is now available to use from the main menu under 'DOWNLOADS'.

Instead of being a seperate area I have made this module draw from the contents of the forum and all it's attachments.  I was beginning to feel that a lot of really good and useful stuff was getting lost in the forum, so I set out to rectify this.

Now everytime you attach anything to your posts, it will then become available in the DOWNLOADS section along with everything else that has ever been uploaded here.  There's quite a lot of stuff here now.

When you first enter the downloads section it will show you the full list.  You can then search the files by just tapping in 'htr' to bring up all the Haptek files or 'jpg' to get all the images etc etc.  There is also an option to allow thumbnail images to be displayed in the search results.

The quickest option is to not have images displayed, but it's there if you want it.  Also depending on server load it may take a short while to download some files, just please bear with it - it will get there!

I have also made it generate links to the forum post that the files come from, along with who uploaded it too.

I hope you like it and find it useful!

Nope not tried it out, no comments.
Though I will say when you click on  alink it auto starts to download that file for you, and wow, when you click on a link to to the topic that file was posted in, it takes you to that topic.

Thank you Freddy. A lot of very useful things to get, but also many temporary unavailable (for me) links. Maybe because of the traffic?

Possibly, but they all seem ok to me here at the moment - any particular ones?  I know the server the forum is on was having problems yesterday, so maybe they haven't fixed it yet.
