I spent some time hacking a likes leader board into the stats section. Haven't done any PHP for a few months, boy do you soon get rusty.

The stats page has been there since 2005...

That page was lost withing all the other pages until until you brought it up. I never new about it. I only know here. Which is Only on one percent of this web site and where 99 percent of the action happens.
You have been working on it all the time to meet what you like. I do not what kind of stunt you poling to piss all people off
at the expense of propping other up. Throwing harmony right out the door. It should stayed buried.

How long have you been here ? Three years ? Since when have I tried anything underhand ?
All major and even lesser changes get notified - I have been transparent from the start in 2005.
The stats page has been there all this time - yes even before you noticed it !
It serves as a useful guide to people popping by to see how active we are and what kind of topics are being discussed. Most forums have this kind of thing. It's not designed to undermine anyone but help the site grow and remain transparent.
Now if you don't like the new likes section please feel free to give some reasons why you don't like it and we can go from there.
I put a lot of time and effort into this site - so we have a nice place to talk about the things we are interested in. I have never asked anything from anyone - nor do I have some cunning master plan that you all don't know about.
If you are not happy here, then simply move on to another site.

In my opinion this stat page and world globe of us is just giving away information and honestly is not helping only destroying people. Remove it all.
Then again our posts are info too gee. We should keep in anything that is private/provocative/dangerous and just use the forum.

And do understand that this is an open forum, not a clandestine operation - so use your common sense and think about what you post - if you don't want things to go public then clearly do not post it.

This place is a maze. The interesting forum keeps me form exploring other parts. I will only learn of them
if someone bring them up.

Yes it is a much more complex site these days to be sure. The articles contribute a lot to our visits too, more than you might think.
The point about the stats page is that it's just a summary of the site and about things that are open to the public anyway.
The home page is another summary and all of that is public too. If anyone is hoping to hide things then this is not the site to do it on.

keghn have you tried Googling for keghn? You're all over the internet. You obviously don't have a problem with mazes.
As for this site, it's one of the clearest and best maintained sites anywhere.

Since Keghn so far hasn't argumented his reason for objecting, or what he is objecting to exactly, I'm going to take a guess from his recent posts about getting downvoted en masse on Reddit, that he considers the stats on likes to be the same thing. Of course I may be reading too much reason into madness.

No, I think you've nailed it. His defining characteristic has always been extreme sensitivity to any form of perceived criticism, no matter how slight. His normal reaction to any attempt to help him is typically a feral snarl.

Maybe Keghn is concerned about rights of how to use the data he provided to this site. But as long as our host, Freddy gallantly covers all the hosting bills, this is declared as a public site. We all knew it from the start, so I don't see what could offend Keghn that much.
Seriously, I don't understand the problem. What is the big deal? Keghn, in your opinion, how *should* this site function? But have in mind that you are not the only user here, and moreover, you are not paying the bills that run this site.

Longecity is actually somewhat harshly controlled. So is Kurzweilia. This site is quite nice though (kind+organized). Longecity is cool looking/organized too too.
I once sent a PM to the admin saying I'll help and got a ban point.
And his helper was very skeptical guy and banned me year laterwards.

Do you really think someone would contrive such a list just to have a publicly accessible forum?
The Forum is quite real and Freddy is a friend who has put in a huge amount of his personal time, effort and expense so that we all might have this digital playground for things of A.I. and camaraderie of like-minded people. There is no hidden agenda here at all and yes, people often have opposing points of view and often, there is no one right answer that fits everyone's concept. In the end, we can all agree to disagree and still remain friends.
That's the human, civilized way things are supposed to be done.
If you are distraught about seeing an image of stats that every site has, then you should seriously take a good look at Facebook or Google or Microsoft or Siri, Google Now, Cortana, etc. They have more information about you than you would ever imagine. Google your real name sometime and see just how much info about you can be had by anyone looking for you!! It's frightening, yet it is a sign of the times.
Our information serves a useful purpose for Freddy and staff helping to tailor the site to better serve and function in certain areas. The stats display no personal information about you or anyone else and certainly nowhere nearly as invasive as some of those mentioned above. In fact, this site is not invasive at all!
It's just a snapshot of the people that help make this a family-friendly, fun and informative site without malice toward nor intended to anyone.
Please enjoy your time here and relax. It's all good. If the site doesn't fit your idea of what it should be, then create your own site.
We have no shackles here.
