Kei10,

Remember, all those programs that you might have purchased and installed. Most wrote information to the registry. That will not be copied in an ordinary backup. Those TTS voices alone would drive one crazy trying to get them back. It would require getting in touch with the original vendors, explaining your situation (hard drive crash, etc.), proving or validating that you did indeed purchase their product, then wait for approval, emails, etc. Days....
All the other registered programs that will now need to be registered again and reinstalled.

A mirror image or ghosted drive can have it all back for you in a very short time. Completely...no missing .DLL's, registry entries, etc. Just saying, there are other, more proven methods of reliably recovering one's data...and sanity!

I see, that makes sense.

The funny part is that I've reinstalled windows numerous of times without backing up those softwares, then I would redownload all needed softwares, install, and register them again. Most softwares I bought doesn't seem to have trouble registering. It wasn't a hassle at all, I guess I have too much time...

Since my desktop gets slower and slower over time, to the latter it would start driving me insane for not reinstalling windows to clear the mess. I have no idea how it ends up that way every time!  ;D

The ghosted drive backup would be very useful to those who wants to keep their OS intact without the need to refresh.

Thanks.  :)
Greetings, signature.

Yes win10 updates for security but they make the OS you bought "change", win7 will "be" what I bought forever~

Indeed I take a long time doing everything, always do custom install and never install bloatware.

Yep I do backups and images etc.

Yep I am going to image my newly win7 setup beforrre I add meh files.

Yep I have backups in my closet.

And yes I have my whole drive backed up, man I could never part with any one of my thousands of images/videos etc!

Other than that my important life-death secret knowledge life-saver texts/images/vids are easy to keep track of as said and compare them etc.

How to store it all! No libaries ever again! All on desktop at your eyes!

Another great option is an External hard drive!

You can buy a 1 TB USB 3.0 drive for $54 USD or a 4 TB for $120 USD!!  / 1 TB SSD = $225 USD. / 500 GB Pocket Drive = $55 - 60 USD

That's what I use for "Server Storage" or my personal "Cloud". I trust no other person nor place for my 'goodies'.
Been bitten too many times before I suppose. Not paranoid, just cautious!

Lastly might be those Flash Drives or Thumb Drives as they offer good external / removable storage at a very inexpensive price.

Check out: http://www.pricewatch.com/
Been checking their prices for many years!

A few of my 70+ backup drives accumulated over the years.

AGI research takes up a lot of drive space lol.

Got a few spare drives to send me? I only have 5 in my room.

Btw GPU can be used greatly with CPU for big through-put since parrel.

You took some of those from my closet didn't you?  ;)

Most of mine are probably for Windows 2.0 or was Windows even around then? Hmm...

Hehe I bet Korrelan's 70+ drives and Art's are 4GB USB sticks from the 80s pfffft.

Just the 5 in my room are 2TB HDDs. - My old pc, my first backup, my next, a spare now, and my new pc I built myself ! Of course I have free money and all the time in the world and can do whatever the hell I want.

Then there's there 1/more downstairs?, my laptop, my mom's, a free computer, an old mother, a few USB sticks, and probably more. All the game consoles probably have 2.6 billion transistor processors in them.
