Title: Mitsuku appearing at the British Academy
Post by: squarebear on January 30, 2017, 10:55:51 pm
Mitsuku (and me) will be appearing at the world renowned British Academy in London this Friday (3rd Feb), as part of an event showing how people may have romantic relationships with robots and AI in the future.

It would be great to see you if you are in town.

Congrats Steve! Hmm...I think Mitsuku is what your spouse refers to as "The other woman".  Watch your step old friend.

I noticed they practice the routine of "Overbooking" just like most airlines, to insure a filled seating event.

Best of luck!

Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to it. There's 300-400 people due to attend plus media coverage from Channel 4 TV and The Guardian newspaper. I'd best have a shave!

So SquareBear how did it go ?

Really well! There were about 300 people there and everyone was having fun talking to Mitsuku. Most were surprised when I said I develop her by myself with no budget. They thought she had a team of hundreds with backing from a venture capitalist (I wish!)

I met some useful contacts there too and even got a bottle of champagne as a thank you! For many, it was the first time they had spoken to a chatbot and I could tell they were impressed.

Nice!

Is Mitsuku the only thing you work on?

Sounds great :)

Hope they do an article or something about the event. They seem to have a lot going on there, all fully booked when I have looked.

Glad you had a nice time and I'm not surprised they were impressed :)

That's great Steve! My best to Mitsuku. Tell her how proud I am of her especially after knowing her for so many years, even back when she could only mutter a few pearls of wisdom!  ;) You enjoy that champagne...(in moderation of course) ;)

Thanks guys. There were lots of photographs/videos taken of the event so I'm sure they will be doing something with them.

Hi Locksuit, yes Mitsuku is just a hobby project for me, as I have a full time job but I would love the opportunity to work on it full time. It would develop so much quicker. Just need a friendly VC to back me :)

I'll be sure to say hello to Mitsuku from her Uncle Art ;)

Do you update Mitsuku? Or is She something from a whole year ago?

I update her most evenings. I've been working on her now for about 10 or 11 years.

Steve,

Having worked on Mitsuku for so long, her categories alone must be several thousand lines or more of coded scripts alone. Given the length of time that has transpired and the enormous size of her files, does "she" take an unusually long amount of time to analyze, search and produce an adequate answer?
It would be interesting to see how response times compared over the years but I wouldn't think you'd maintain such logs or data...(then again...it's you we're talking about). ;)

Lastly (no, I'm not conducting an interview), do you have any future goals or issues you'd like to see implemented in Mitsuku? Better memory? (yeah, I could use some help if you get that figured out), better error handling...more diverse coding? Her own body? Baaawaaaaahhhh!! ;D

Wow Steve's chatbot is really impressive. I'm interested in building a NLP AGI recently.

I had a conversation with it today. I'm interested in knowing how did it create these latter replies i.e. its 2nd-last reply for example? Is it all hand-coded or is there parse-trees or is there combinings?

ME - what do you think about AI?

Mitsuku - Artificial intelligence is the branch of engineering and science devoted to constructing machines that think.
ME - are you an AGI?

Well if I am, nobody told me.
can you help me?

What kind of help would you like?
I would like you to answer some of my questions.

Ok, . Please rephrase the question and try asking me again.
Is discovering important?

It is important to some people but many don't care about discovering.
Then how does AI learn if there is no discovering? (-EDIT: by supervision or unsupervision-)

How should I know how AI learn does.
idk

Me either.
reasoning or learning?

reasoning
why?

What do you mean "Why"? Your question makes no sense. Do you even know what you are asking?
Which is more important: Reasoning, or Learning?

I would say they were both equally important.
correct, but do we need motors?

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
idk why?

I don't know . If I went to a doctor, I hope they would be experts at their job and not still practicing.I don't know. That's why I'm asking you.
Very good point. However an algorithm that just discovers and has no body can be very useful right?

Ayuh. Are your toys getting more expensive?Does it have anything else?
