Freddy,

Glad to see you were able to insert the Flag Counter in the right corner.
Looks nice and give a good indication of number and origin of members / visitors!

Nice job! O0

Very good innovation. we now have the opportunity to know the popularity of Aidreams, and also get a glimpse, the number of vistors, can browse the site. that's fine. I remember when I was creating a site on Ning, I was too greedy, with flashplayer, which had the faculty of burdening significantly pages. but Aidreams design, and very functional. I think you have a static, and thus if I remember, of having the possibility to use a "Metascript". This is an application format integration, it can support many format player or video, flash and javascript. but it is certain that the use by the user, should not be disturbed by too many symbols, and player. it's my fault I wanted to make a website, too colorful, but it was very difficult to access for users. your site is perfect Freddy. Glad you like it Claude.  I have tried to keep graphics and devices to a minimum here, apart from embedded videos of course which are fine as they don't rely on our server.  A few things I built myself and kept then stream line to keep the speed up.

Freddy. yes I understand. to the extent that your site is a site open, on the topic of technology. and also for traffic visits, the setting is not limited. I remember NING, had the conditions, limitations, by yourself. I am made in the way you made for Aidreams.

I am always very happy to find Aidreams. It's like an old friend, forever. I think your site is gaining importance, as it is very categorical. The subjects are in order and interest. I think technology and the creation, it is a hobby, as privileged, that art and other passions. I am very happy for the team Aidreams, for its success. :)

@ Freddie...

We're currently at 75 different countries yet we only can view a small portion.

I thought I visited a site where they actually displayed ALL of the Flags of visitors Nations. It was a somewhat larger
table / cell than what we have here at present but I was wondering whether such a display was feasible. Yes?

(Maybe across the bottom or long banner along the side). Dunno...thoughts?

Yes I was thinking the same thing.  Initially I just set it up for a few flags but didn't expect to get so many.  Hopefully I can adjust it without it resetting. People can also click on it to take them to a full run down.  I think maybe double the number of flags ?
Title: Re: Flags
Post by: Freddy on February 21, 2012, 09:21:40 am
Well I made it 36 flags and it didn't reset or anything.  More or is that enough ?

We had a visitor from Moldova  8)

Well Freddie, since the flag "app" is the last gizmo along the right side of the page, why not just "Show All" and let it use the remaining
space as needed? Wouldn't want someone to feel slighted. ???

It's not interfering with anything else on the page so let 'er run! O0

I agree.  Let's see it all.
If it resets, that's o.k.,    we just start over.
I think it's cool.

Some are probably thinking or asking how many countries there are.

Taken from www.worldatlas.com (http://www.worldatlas.com)

Now that is a question that's somewhat difficult to answer, as there is no one right answer. Many sources offer different answers, and depending on the source, there are 189, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195 or 196 independent countries in the world today.

NOTE: On Saturday, July 9, 2011, southern Sudan declared itself the independent country of South Sudan. This is the culmination of a six-year process that ended a long, brutal civil war that caused the deaths of millions. This is a current event, and information and details could possible change over the coming weeks and months.

As of May 1, 2008, the United Nations has 192 official members (including Montenegro and Serbia - the two newest nations). That number does not include the Vatican, and it doesn't (yet) include Kosovo (disclaimer).

Most of the current World Almanacs use 193 countries, which is probably the best answer, but what about Kosovo? (disclaimer) Palestine? Greenland? Western Sahara? Or now, South Sudan?

The US State Department recognizes 194 independent countries around the world, but that list of countries reflects the political agenda of the United States of America. As an example, it includes Kosovo, but does not include Taiwan, as China claims that Taiwan (the ROC) is simply a province of China.

Regarding England, Scotland and Wales, though all are widely considered individual countries, they are all still a part of the United Kingdom (UK), a recognized European country by the United Nations, United States, and others, and therefore included within the United Kingdom on our country list below.

A note regarding Greenland: It voted in favor of increased self-rule in November 2008 and acquired complete responsibility for internal affairs in June 2009. Denmark, however, continues to exercise control of Greenland's foreign affairs, security, and financial policy in consultation with Greenland's Home Rule Government.

In that regard, Greenland is still a part of Denmark, and not recognized as an official independent country. In fact, it's a constituent country; a country that is part of another entity, such as a sovereign state. In this case, the country of Denmark.

it appears we reached our limit of 140  ?
the other little countries probably don't have a computer ?
course they could go across the river and use theirs ?
but wouldn't give us another flag would it ?    :-X

Reached our limits?? Read my earlier post about the number of countries. And yes, while they have flags, the just might NOT have a computer.  ???

I don't think we have reached our limit.  I had set it at 100 weeks back, but it's been showing more than that so your guess is as good as mine.  And yep there are plenty more countries out there  8)
