Title: Keeping on topic
Post by: Freddy on December 09, 2016, 02:43:19 am
Hello folks,

As I hope people realise we are not too strict here, but we've been having a lot of threads going off topic lately.

I don't think anyone minds the odd interjection and some humour, we all like a laugh.

But in the interests of keeping a thread going so that it is interesting to others that come later and who may want to add something, may I please ask that you have a think about whether your remarks are going to send things far off track.

I've been getting a bit swept up in it too, so hands up from me.

There's a general chat board for off topic talk, so please feel free to use that. I'm going to split topics off into that area if I feel it derails the topic too much.

I hope everyone knows I'm acting in the interest of the forum and not pointing fingers.

Thanks for your understanding.

I have not been participating much in the discussions. I have nothing much to say as I'm quite aware my points aren't really praiseworthy. Neither paid interest/attention to the forum threads recently as a lot of unseemly and uncanny squabbles lately.

As a consequence, I ended up being backfired. I've been warned without hesitation as a result of a random sudden reply of mine, in actual attempt to cheer things up -- but in a half-baked way in others' interpretation, such lovely grandeur...

So, I am not certain what's faithfully going on. Though I've been seeing quite a bit of somewhat off-topic replies -- mostly from the admin and the moderator themselves.

With no holds barred, I do not know how I ended up perceiving it that way, my sincere apology to Art and Freddy, I meant no impairment.

Notwithstanding the unsightly, thanks for the admonition.

I'll have to be more extra observant with the status of the community nowadays...

Thanks,
Kei

There I go again, there I go again, making possibly yet another wrongest assumption and response once again that may spark fury. How have I not learned my tedious mistakes simply to steer clear of trouble...

Oh why, oh why...

Please don't be mad Kei, it's advice for everyone, no one in particular and also for me and the mods to follow too.

For the forum to thrive it needs new people to take part too. If someone new sees a lot of meandering off topic talk and also squabbling, they aren't likely to stick around. It's better to nip it in the bud now and bring it up for discussion than let it go on any further.

Your personal input in the forum has been brilliant - you really put a lot of effort and time into your responses.

I wouldn't ask anyone to consider doing something I wouldn't ask myself to do.

I agree with all above.

This is a great community and I value everyone's comments equally. I know I can have a short fuse when certain topics are broached; I'll also endeavour to keep a cool head.  If I have upset anyone I hope they will accept my apologies.

Let peace, tranquillity and intellect guide us.
