Camera changes
« on: June 12, 2006, 07:24:55 pm »
All,
I'm using Fullbody girl with the Large character Skin.  I was thinking of calling Scripts to change the camera but just thought of the way backgrounds are changed.  Could the camera distance be changed in a similar way and is there someone who can create this?

Carl maybe this is what you're looking for, you can change n in clock [t=n] to put a bunch of them in order,  and the t= at the end is the amount of time to take for this move

\clock [t= 0] \keyframe[figure= fullbod rx= 0.000526 ry= -0.999798 rz= 0.015755 w= 0.012435 x= -5.799999 y= 74.000008 z= 245.199554 t= 0 ]

I can't remember where I got this particular one, but whoever it was thanks.  It's also in the Haptek Guide.

Dan,
Thanks for the input, I've been in the Haptek guide but haven't noticed that, at the time I was thinking along the lines of scripting  and thought of the filters used to keep this out of hals input.
I've copied your text and I'll try to look into it.

Not sure what you mean about backgrounds but you can move the camera in the same way as you move any other object in the player by refering to it's name in the Haptek command, like this kind of thing:

\rotate [ figure= camera x= 10 y= 10 z= -10 ]
\translate [ figure= camera x= 1 y =23 z= 5 ]

you can bring time in too like this:

\translate [ figure= camera x= 40 y= 34 z= 54 t=5 ]

Those values are only by way of example, I don't know where they would move it.

Also consider \rotatequat if you use values based on the 'current rotation' query as that returns values for that and not for simple \rotate

Dan,
In Hals window there are two arrows, one pointing left and one right, pressing one with the mouse changes the background the other changes it back, there are about 4 different backgrounds, you could probably add more by choosing the right name, the backgrounds are located in characters and have names like SandyBack, HalBack.

All,
I'm still following this topic, I just installed the vrHaptek plug in, I thing it's great since it allows Hals output to trigger Hals actions, something I was unable to do.  The coding VR uses sets the initial placement of the figure, changing this and triggering it should be fairly easy but to filter it out of the conversation would be difficult for me.  I'm using Tall3 as the Hal skin which provides a higher area for fullbody, Not in love with Tall3 and began making a new Hal skin.
Seems like it should be easy to provide some switches to move the character in and out on the Hal display skin similiar to the fullbody girl guide players.

All,
I really like the plugin Vossi created, it's available at VirtualHumans.  I started doing scripting to load a modified fullbody at startup with ver 5, in some cases it worked sometimes no.  I tried using Hals replies to trigger haps without sucess and vrHaptek can do this.  Right now I have a problem with the modified character loading, I'm hoping this can be straightened out.
I just started making a Display Hal skin and I'll include some click buttons for camera changes.
Freddy,  I hope you'll give it a try, aside from the modified skin loading  it seems great.
