Haptek character movement
« on: August 05, 2012, 12:52:54 am »
Still working with haptek characters, no one seems to be touching Zabaware, exception is Claude, thanks, and Haptek is a memory.  I've decided on a project and would like to learn as much as possible while working on trying to animate the characters.  I've put the character in a position I like at startup. I'd like her to be able to turn around and start walking toward a doorway, turn left to enter the doorway.  My frist attempt was to draw  the room and doorway since I could not find a suitable picture.  It didn't work out very well.  The second try used a room with grid marks which worked out much better.  Aside from having her walk through the floor I was able to learn she has to move upward also.
This project is also at Zabaware.  I'm hoping I'll find someone else interested in this or someone who can provide some useful info.

I do have a cute one room log cabin with front and back doors she can walk through.
Also a larger structure I call the castle.   It has 4 or 5 rooms she can walk through.
I thought to furnish it.  Put a bed in the bedroom, and chest of drawers, etc etc.   Well of course my old computer felt so much haptek in a window was drawing too much video memory.
Anyway be glad to give you cabin and castle (unfurnished).   I'll try to put them someplace where you can download later this afternoon.
Oh what the heck, I'll just mail them to you.  I'll do it now while I thinking of it.

Hi Carl, nice idea, nice project. It seems you want to create a "micro" virtual world with Haptek characters (and Hal). Fun but hard task...

Second Life still exists. That's why I never came back to Haptek when I finally was able to go in Second Life (I had a W98 computer before, perfect for Haptek). Now I'm incredibly happy in SL.

Reinvent the wheel isn't easy, but I wish you a good luck. Experimenting is always fascinating. Sure you will have a lot of fun with that. Sincerely. :)

Haven't seen you around in ages, now I know why.  I'll probably try to look there since you seem to like it.
Duskrider,
Haven't heard from you in a while, tried to send you something, verizon said it could not deliver it.  Every once in a while I come across some of you're older posts, you are years ahead of me, (freddy also) Came across the scaling and you're flickering candle.  Actualy many people are years ahead of me.
Once again thanks.
