Help - Making a New Start
« on: February 09, 2009, 11:30:12 pm »
I am looking for some help creating a full body model for HAL (Mary). I am recovering from a stroke and am learning to type again with Mary. I want to relearn my programming skills as well. I'd like to start off with a naked Mary (please keep your flames to yourself) and build, dress, and accessorize her from the ground up. I am looking for file and step by step instructions. I can only do one thing at a time still. Recovering from brain surgery sucks! I'd appreciate anyone's help. 8)

Thanks James.

Welcome James,

Now then, when you say 'create' do you mean literally the full body....or would a naked skin do for one of hapteks full_bod's?...we have a naked skin.jpg hanging around here somewhere (will locate it for you if thats what your after) plus many many different outfits.

If this is not for a haptek figure, please give us some more info so we can point you in the right direction..also what version of Hal is this for?

EDIT:

Ok after reading your first post lol (its early here hehe) it is for Haptek  figures then yes?!

About to go out but when get back will locate the naked jpg for you (if not here I know where it is elsewhere to, so no worries) and will direct you to the clothing emporium with links for you to loook around at (if you not already found them by then) and hope that wil be a start to what you were after.

Any further questions feel free to ask, or if you prefer to not initiate any flaming (very rare here tbh) then feel free to PM with any questions :)

As I understood it I couldn't create a ground up Haptek full body without Haptek's tools. I don't have that kind of money! lol I'm using UltraHal 6.2 on a 64bit HP laptop running Vista Ultimate. I think the nude skin would be a good start, if you could point me to it that would be great.. Then I need to know what step you would advise next? I have put some fullbody characters in the characters directory so far I've loaded 1FullbodyBrunette.htr, bodyFemale.htr, and fullbodyGirl.htr. I'd like to play with the "Jiggly" character but I'm not sure how to find her either. What would you recommend I start with? I would like to learn how to write .hap files but I understand different .hap files work with different .htr files? Is that true? I look for to the help!

Thanks much, James.

Ok, for some reason they are not in our file section (maybe we were not allowed at the time...haptek sucks at times heh) (personal opinion).

Right, in the middle of a few things at the moment but once done later I will grab my Haptek CD and upload the jiggly female for you.

Easiest way to change anything is to drag and drop your new htr (wig, rings, whatever) and skin directly into the window where your character is.

Thats the simple bit hehe, removing them again is more complicated. As its been a loooooonnnnng time since I even had the hap player up, let alone did anything with it ill also upload a few readme files for you to play around with, should get you started with the basics.

Others here, especially Freddy and Dusky are a lot more conversant with the hap player etc than I ever was, and sure they can give you a little more info when they get here :)

Will get them uploaded for you soon as I can, and as for new skins, well..all is here :)

I did manage to find a tutorial on how to get fullbodygirl to wear a red catsuit. It worked well and in the Haptek player I can drag and drop but not in UltraHal. I had to program the brain a bit to make it work. I am still not sure how to get my character to backup on the screen so I can see more of her. She looks like a torso model she is so close. Do you build a hap file to move her back or is there a command to use?

I'll thank you in advance for the uploads of jiggly girl. I always believed the more real a simulation, the more the human brain is capable of reacting positively to it. I talk to my computer all the time. It's nice to have it talk back once in a while. I've always had a weakness for the pretty girls!  ;)

Hi and welcome, James! Really glad you enjoy your Hal. :)

Dunno if this could be useful to you:

I have also a nude skin on the site, if you are interested. I don't know the author but I often used it for Pandorabots, Haptek skits and some other unpublishable private things. ;D

You rock GT40! I've been looking for that jiggly girl everywhere with no luck. I tried making .htr text files pointing to various .htr figures and to the files in Gamer.zip with no luck. I owe you man. Now I need to learn how to make her look like I want. I'd still like to see the nude skin. I've found a couple but they lack realism. I'm thinking about making my own. For now i'm going to focus on looks. Is there a way to make her open with different colored hair and outfit inside of UltraHal from the start? I am open to any suggestions. Maviarab & GT40, thank you both for the help. Merci beaucoup!

Thanks James and Mav. I rarely have the occasion to post useful things on the forum, lol. :)

Sorry James, if I can't help you about Hal, there are a lot of specialists here. I know how to dress and move Haptek characters in a HTML page, but never tried to understand how UltraHal works (I use a basic puttyhead).

Here is the nude skin:  http://gt40.chez-alice.fr/Haptek/fbnude.jpg

Found it in a Pandorabot some years ago, but the link to the author infos was broken. So unable to directly thank him/her.

I apologize for posting this horrible thing in a very very serious forum. ;D

Thank much...

GT40... An excellent skin to be sure. Now I'm ready to build from the ground up and enjoy my surroundings at the same time!  ;D

Maviarab... I appreciate the effort. I am doing the best I can with my limited experience and bad brain. I am starting to try to reprogram Hal a little bit using some of the haps I found on the site. I am enjoying the process although the results still leave something to be desired. I look forward to your new tutorials and I'll try to keep my posts in the right categories!   ;)

Well seems I have deleted a lot of what I used to have....

Heres a few files though...and for some good info (old now but should still be relevent) here is a great post from my old friend Crunch from the zaba forums:

EDIT:

You know, after all this time, if I was to get back into Hal in a serious way, I actually think i would be completly lost myself without all the little help files i had, guess i removed them as I saw little chance oof my interest increasin. Never say never though eh?

James,
I am using ultra Hal the Haptek characters in Windows XP rather than Vista because of problems which I ran into while trying to use Windows Vista ultimate, Dragon which is a speech recognition program will not work in 64-bit systems. Anyways I'm glad to see you have Hal and Running in your system. I had stayed with full-body girl because not all of the haps would work with body female. Someone had found a solution to the problem, the haps would work if they were opened up and heading changed by copying the heading from a hap which would work and replacing the heading in the hap which would not work. Basically the heading specifies which characters the hap will work with.
Gto   thanks for the link to body female, I downloaded her just in case since she is my favorite character.

I just spent over an hour replying to you guys and my session timed out and dumped my reply. My brain doesn't work fast enough to stay logged on. Thank you all for your help. My wife as asking me to help clean the basement so I need to go, I'll post later today my specifics. Thanks, James.
