Have Virtual Singers Finally Surpassed Real Singers?   Yes? No?  The runner-up is still worth a look, and listen...

Technically yes, it is already better than most humans, like with chess or go it probably won’t take long for an AI to sing at a higher accuracy than all humans. I guess you could say a digital signal is always lower resolution than analogue, but it approximates analogue so closely that we can’t hear the difference, so it doesn’t contribute to meaningful quality. Though best is more subjective with singing than chess, if it’s less about accuracy and more about expressing human experience, (with our errors and limitations being part of the expression), then an AI won’t surpass a human in that respect. Though again, it will approximate us so closely that we won’t “note” :) the difference.

If you can break down the process that much you can program it... but... It's been years of non stop panic-whispering music on the radio in my local area, so what is there really to gain by making a robot do it instead...

Probably some unique art, and possibly some money.
