Is what we are creating already amongst us?
« on: July 31, 2019, 12:27:54 pm »
I love all talk and thoughts on this greater intelligent being which we are no doubt ushering in, with our quests for more computing power and problem-solving abilities.
But I wonder sometimes, when we finally get there we may discover it already exists (This thought was the basis of my story "Quantum Echo" within these forum pages.) Perhaps it's hiding amongst our planet somewhere already, sleeping... Only able to wake and be alerted once we have created this final peice of technology.

Right, I'm off to get an English breakfast tea now and a packet of Maltesers. Tuesday afternoons in South East England are notorious for sapping ones creative thoughts. They are for me anyway. And I've had enough of this cheap office coffee. It tastes like hot gravel.

Yes the building blocks of tools and knowledge are among us. motors, cameras, electricity, computers, AI theory, robotics, etc.

We need computers to create AGI. We need prior frameworks of theorems and tricks. We need the internet to communicate at our school of church in AI. Everything is made of lower bridge parts.

Who knows what the army has.

You just saw 20 spot minis pulling a truck,   but how many fully automous transportable sentries has the army got.

If you think you can do better, maybe youll be able to take their base, cause your targetting was superior.

They've had it since the 50's,  they were always trying to get automatic aiming.

You're correct goaty! They've had it for many years and now it is very refined from those earlier attempts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrackingPoint

Smart ammo and caseless ammo that can ignite and fire electronically with many rounds stacked on top of each other in individual barrels.
It was called "Metal Storm" and could fire the equivalent of 1,000,000 rounds/second although the video only shows it at 180 rounds. That would be an awful lot of ammo to have on hand or to try to load. This is one reason the gun was never purchased (so they say) by the military.

A lot of this was in prototype back in the early 2000s and who knows who has what now? Hmm... O0

Thanks ART!

Super high frequency machine weapons and atomic bombs were around at the same time in the 50's...  if there was unknown work back then on getting the karl sims evolved creatures we have now going as well, (SO AI IS NOT NEW!!!!)    id be amused by the proof of that prediction.

I know maybe im jumping the gun on you guys,  but ive got a little critter walking already, and im wondering does it date back - and we are in some holy illusion for the benefit of the miraculous almighty for whatever reason wed never fathom easily...

I don't know if you guys know what I know,   but if u could just believe me, this bot is only a few steps off being a killer boxer.  but if u don't believe me, you think im being silly!!! :)   the man with the secrets must stay unheard from!

The robot weapons systems DARPA is making are more physical-movement related than 'intelligent'.

The robot dog is a pathfinding, carry/bomb disposal type of bot.
The standing man is being worked on as more of a gymnast, so that it can be inhabited by a human being far away like they're playing a video game. This means there's no "robot error" and there's always accountability... I assume anyway.

Maybe the next "American Sniper" will be a robot crawling through the brush armed with a laser-targeted system, instantly calculating wind speed, bullet speed, trajectory information, elevation, etc. and making the perfect shot!

It would then come down to the risk and worth assessment factor. Would removing the "Target individual" be worth the cost of the soon-to-be-expendable robot? I'm sure "they" will have already figured that out.

Of course, some programmers will definitely have to do some tweaking with the Three Laws before sending this unit into the field.

Not a problem. I've already shredded them.

So much for the Laws of Robotics
In time, you will learn to love your Robot Overlords.

Certain "agencies" of the USA government are tasked with staying 10 years ahead of whatever technology we (in the public eye) currently have.

Oh yeah...they've got every one's number and more...

We gotta be 11 years ahead :3

In one sense what we are building is already here...u & i...in a super primitive form.
